One of the big reasons I wanted to leave employment was to not ask permission to go on holiday and have the freedom to take time off when I want. I’m sure that’s a big reason for a lot of freelancers! Freedom to choose how you spend your time.
This trip wasn’t actually on the agenda for this year, but when the opportunity came up to celebrate my birthday in Bilbao who am I to say no!?!
I’ve been lucky to have taken a few trips already this year, and with a new client starting in July, I didn’t want to be completely offline, so I thought I’d test out my first working holiday and these are the things I did to make it work for me.
1. Did as much client work I could before we went away.
2. Booked a hotel that I new had fast reliable wifi
3. Had distraction free time in the morning so I could focus and get the important tasks done so I could enjoy the rest of the day.
Doing these things meant I didn’t feel stressed, I got on with what I needed to and still switched off to enjoy my holiday! Not every holiday will be like this, but I love that I can do both!
Back at it tomorrow!
