Be prepared that builders aren't being difficult or trying to overprice your renovations. There is a real struggle at the minute to source materials and those that are available are much more expensive than they were prior to Brexit and the pandemic.

Well this is a blow to the industry as a whole. Materials are in short supply anyway at the minute with additional Brexit measures, duty payments and Covid restrictions.

Another article released today (which behind a paywall) has said that the UK doesn't have the time, capacity or money to test materials we have here to soften the materials shortages. Add on top the fire concerns too and you have a massive backlog of building all after a finite amount of resources.

If you're starting a project soon, please keep in mind that your builder isn't being difficult and wants to shaft you. They are trying their hardest to keep working and giving you the home of your dreams.

I wonder how many homeowners actually knew there was a scheme to help them pay towards improving certain elements of their homes. And just like that the government take it away early because they didn't advertise it sufficiently and are having a hissy fit.

If you can get an application in this week you might benefit but it's a bit an miss thing for sure.

Homeowners were invited to apply for grants to insulate houses but the scheme is being suddenly ended.

Loft Conversion, Warwick - making use of underused spaces in your home to expand into another bedroom for a growing family or a new business from home.

Here we went through a brainstorm session with the owners M & S. They both work from home with a small child. The space needed to work for them as a home and an office from their fledgling agency.
