A big thank you to everyone who joined us at Liberty House on last week for our Surbiton Community Get Together.

It was great to bring together clients from a wide range of businesses, share conversations, make new connections, and spend time getting to know the people behind the businesses that make up our community.

Spotlight: Colour Conviction at UML Battersea Business Centre

Some businesses can run from a laptop at the kitchen table. Addie's cannot.

Addie runs , a personal colour analysis and styling studio, and the space itself is part of the service. Clients sit in a well lit space with natural light from the windows while she works out the exact palette that suits their skin, hair and
eyes. Getting the light wrong is not an option, which is why she works from a proper studio at Battersea Business Centre, not a spare room.

With more than ten years in fashion, her own clothing line behind her, and a place on the 2026 UK Small Business Awards shortlist, Addie wanted a base that matched the quality of her work. Somewhere clients feel looked after from the first step through the
door.

We are excited to welcome Melissa back to UML. Some of you may already know Melissa from her previous role managing Argent House, Liberty House, Victory House, and St James, and we are delighted to have her back as our new Community Coordinator.

In her new role, Melissa will be working across our locations, helping support our clients and continuing to strengthen the sense of community across UML.

One of her goals is to create more opportunities for people to connect, collaborate, and get to know one another better. With such a wide range of businesses and expertise across our centres, there is huge value in bringing people together and encouraging stronger connections within the community.

Some buildings carry more than just history. They carry stories. 🏛️

The Grange, originally built around 1800, has lived many different lives over the years. During the First World War, it was transformed into a convalescent home for wounded officers returning from service, offering care and recovery within its grounds. Later, it became a post-war nursing home before eventually falling into disrepair.

Today, The Grange has been carefully restored into a workspace that still retains many of its original features and character, from its elegant exterior to the sense of calm created by its landscaped surroundings.

Set within gated grounds with on-site parking, it remains one of the more distinctive buildings within our collection of locations.

Meet Cherry. 🎉

When Cherry joined Battersea Business Centre after more than 25 years in education, one thing stood out straight away. People had been based here for years, some even decades, and still did not really know each other.
For her, that did not feel right.

Having seen how important community is for wellbeing, she made it her focus to bring people together. Not just to share a building, but to understand what each business does, who is behind it, and where collaboration could happen.
And there is a lot of potential.

From prop makers to florists, photographers to designers, therapists to stylists, the centre is full of people building very different things, often just a few doors apart.

Since then, Cherry has been organising regular events to connect people, creating opportunities for conversations, partnerships and a stronger sense of belonging.

Her goal is simple. To make sure no one feels like they are working in isolation.
