Selling through an auction FAQs

What is the standard length of timed online auctions?

Our timed online auction gives you the flexibility to set the auction date.

Typically we would allow for 3-4 weeks in order to conduct an extensive marketing campaign, conduct viewings, prepare the legal pack and deal with any enquiries.

Buying through auctions FAQ

What happens when a sale is agreed upon?

On unconditional lots, contracts are exchanged immediately following
the fall of the gavel, the purchaser will make payment of a deposit and
the auction conditions require a full legal completion in 28 days.

As a buyer, this means you need to come into an auction with your funds prepared so you can act quickly when purchasing.

Auction Buying FAQs

What are the different types of auctions?

Unconditional lot

Contracts are exchanged immediately following the fall of the gavel, the purchaser is legally bound to buy and the vendor is legally bound to sell the Property/Lot. The auction conditions require a full legal completion 28 days following the auction (unless otherwise stated). A deposit and a buyer's premium are payable immediately.

Conditional lot

Upon the fall of the hammer, the auction conditions require an exchange of contracts within 28 days (unless otherwise stated) followed by completion within 28 days of exchange. The purchaser shall pay a non-refundable buyer’s premium. The buyer’s premium applicable to the property will be noted on the property listing.

Auction Buying FAQs

What is the guide price?

The guide is an estimate given by the Auctioneer. This should also provide you with an indication of the seller’s reserve price. Guide prices should give you a good estimate of the likely sale price but they are only an estimate.

Why sell at auction? 3 reasons to sell your property through an auction!

🏠 Best price – competition is good, gathering all potential purchasers together at the same time creates this, so you can rest assured the price achieved is the best price you could possibly achieve.

🏠 Speed – Selling at auction is much faster than selling through an estate agent. Most properties are sold on an unconditional basis which means immediate exchange of contract and most auction sales complete in 20 working days.

🏠 Security – Once the hammer falls your buyer is legally committed to purchase and cannot change their mind without the penalty of losing their deposit.

Auction Buying FAQs

What is a reserve price?

A reserve price is the price stated as the lowest figure acceptable to the seller. This is confidential between the seller and the auctioneer.

The guide price should give you an indication of that seller's reserve price or expected sale price but this is only a guide.
