Hymid Technical moulding specialists, including two-shot and over-moulding Hymid excel in Single and Two Shot injection Moulding.

This is supported by UK and overseas mould tool manufacture. Our Engineering team has many years of experience in moulding and tooling and we will be happy to discuss your new or on-going projects to find the solution that fits your needs. Our specialist knowledge of two shot injection moulding has enabled us to produce a wide range of interesting products that illustrate the benefits of this inno

vative moulding technique. We are keen to share this experience to help optimise your new moulded products through our detailed design for manufacture analysis. PROJECT ENGINEERING

Hymid has many years of experience offering innovative single & two shot plastic injection moulding solutions. The two colour, two material or two shot moulding process allows product designers the opportunity to integrate value & functionality into their moulded part designs. For example, windows, seals, grips & text are just a few of the features that can be built into a single plastic moulding. We are happy to discuss your project needs to establish how Hymid can help turn your concepts into finished products. TOOLING SOLUTIONS

Good quality mould tools are the heart of any successful moulded product. We have developed close relationships with a number of toolmakers in China. This allows us to offer well managed, good quality tools at very competitive prices. Our experienced Project Engineers will carefully manage every stage of the toolmaking process to ensure tools are designed and manufactured to a standard that we are happy to guarantee. Once mould tools have been proved to produce good parts, we can then import them to our in-house moulding facility where tools will be maintained by our team of skilled toolmakers. INJECTION MOULDING

Whether your moulding needs are for single or two shot moulding we are well equipped to provide the moulding machines to suit your project. Hymid has experience of running tools with auto un-screwing mechanisms, collapsing cores, up and aways as well as hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanically actuated internal tooling elements. We can also offer second operations and assembly to complement our moulding services. In-moulded inserts can be fitted during the production cycle, or we can screw or heat stake inserts into parts after moulding.

Less than 3 weeks until National Manufacturing Day 2026!

At Hymid, we understand the importance of investing the next generation, and part of that is opening our doors to show behind the scenes of manufacturing and product development.

The best material for your product may not be metal.

For decades, metal has been the default material choice when strength, durability and precision are critical requirements. However, advances in engineering polymers are changing what is possible with injection moulded components.

Our latest article explores how plastics can successfully replace metal components in many applications, whilst delivering the performance standards product developers and design engineers demand.

For businesses evaluating material selection, the discussion extends far beyond cost reduction. When components are redesigned specifically for injection moulding, opportunities often emerge to improve manufacturability, simplify assembly, increase design flexibility and strengthen supply chain resilience.

Every tool deserves one more check before it earns its place on your production line. Import conditions, transit and handling can all affect a tool's condition, however strong its performance during overseas trials. A final assessment, right before production begins, is what gives you complete confidence in the result.

Our second Technical Insight explains why every tool delivered to our facility is formally assessed, stripped, cleaned and rebuilt before pre-production trials begin, backed by Hymid's full-life production guarantee.

This gives you full assurance that your tool is verified and production-ready before a single component is manufactured.

We are pleased to confirm that Hymid has been shortlisted for three Make UK Awards 2026 in the South region: Strategic Business Growth, SME of the Region, and Innovation.

This recognition reflects the standard of engineering, strategic investment, and technical innovation that underpins our approach to manufacturing, and reinforces our position as a development partner capable of supporting complex, high-performance projects.

Hymid's expert advice is based on hands-on experience, not just theory.

Alison, our newly appointed Head of Sales, has completed a series of production shifts on the shop floor and within our post-mould customisation department, gaining first-hand experience of the injection moulding process, from tool setup through to the value-added services we apply post-production.

This is standard practice at Hymid. All office staff complete a minimum of two production shifts per year, working directly alongside our technical production team, in order to give our office-based staff a deeper appreciation of the precision and care required to meet the stringent standards of injection moulding, and a stronger understanding of the products we manufacture.

Ultimately, this practice ensures that every decision made across all departments is grounded in the practical realities of production, and every point of contact within Hymid brings a genuine understanding of the process behind the component.

Well-prepared teams avoid most tooling problems before they even arise. Undercuts, inconsistent wall thicknesses and insufficient early-stage review are among the most common pitfalls, yet every one of them is entirely foreseeable with the right expertise engaged from the outset. Understanding these risk points early is what separates a smooth trialling process from a stressful one.

Our latest Technical Insight examines the most common causes of tooling project failure, and how being prepared, with the right expertise on hand, results in a successful project.

Understanding risk points early allows your team to make better-informed decisions, well before tooling costs are committed.

Many factors shape how complex a mould tool will be, so having the right advice from the start allows you to make informed decisions that will lower operational risk.

In our second Technical Insight, we set out why precision tooling should be treated as a strategic investment, and how a "right first time" philosophy protects your product development from costly rework.

Fewer surprises during trialling, tighter cost control, and a tool that performs consistently.

Behind every injection moulded component is a combination of skilled people and modern equipment. We know that investment in both drives lasting success.

We were pleased to welcome Ashlee Gough and Steve Thomson from Arburg to our facility last week, where we saw Ashlee settling into his new role and introduced the wider Hymid team. During the visit, our Production Director, Joe Wilkins, walked them through the section of the factory floor already marked out for our new Arburg Allrounder, discussing installation plans and how the machine will integrate into our existing production flow.

Continued investment in both our people and our machinery is central to how Hymid operates. New capital equipment expands what is possible in terms of tolerances, cycle times, and part complexity, while strong relationships with partners such as Arburg ensure that investment is supported by the right expertise from day one. This gives us greater capacity, improved consistency, and the ability to plan ahead rather than react.

Today, we welcomed Robert Halfon, Jim Davison, and Fiona McGarry from Make UK to our facility for a tour of our operations, a look ahead at our upcoming facility upgrades, and a discussion about the forthcoming National Manufacturing Day. The visit included time spent directly with members of the Hymid team, hearing first-hand about the work they do and what makes Hymid a place they are proud to work.

As a proud Make UK member, we see visits like this as an opportunity to showcase not only our manufacturing capability, but the people behind it. Skilled, engaged teams are the foundation of consistent quality and continuous improvement, and it is these individuals who make our investment in new facilities and equipment worthwhile.

National Manufacturing Day 2026 is fast approaching, and days like today are a reminder of why celebrating the sector, and the people within it, matters.

Supporting the next generation of engineers is one of the best investments UK manufacturing can make.

This month, Hymid welcomed Poppy for the first of two work experience placements, as part of her T-Level in Design and Manufacturing Engineering. Her three-week placement has given her hands-on exposure to CAD, tooling, and how components are designed, produced, and maintained for our customers. She returns later in the year for a further four weeks, focusing on the area of the business that interests her most.

Poppy says: "Everyone here has been really supportive, helping me build real skills and understand how the business operates. It has made me feel part of the team."

To read more about Poppy's work experience with us, take a look at our latest article on the link below.
