Sam Tolchard says winning his first Commonwealth Games gold medal at his fifth games "means everything".

We're looking forward to cheering on Sam Tolchard this morning as he chases Commonwealth Games gold for England at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games! 🇬🇧🎳

Sam booked his place in the men's singles final with a superb 2-0 victory over Northern Ireland's Gary Kelly and will now face Malaysia's Izzat Shameer Dzulkeple for the gold medal.

Competing in his fifth Commonwealth Games, the Torquay bowler has already won bronze and silver for England – and today he'll be hoping to complete the set with gold! 🥇

A huge thank you to Sophie and Sam Tolchard, who kindly gave some of the Tolchards team a lesson in bowls. We all had a fantastic evening at Torquay's Kings Bowling Club, with plenty of laughs and some friendly(-ish) competition!

A special good luck to Sam, who will be representing England at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, which start today.

We are delighted to be partnering with lawn bowls siblings Sam and Sophie Tolchard this season, two outstanding athletes from one of Devon’s most successful sporting families.

Both proud representatives of England, Sam and Sophie have achieved exceptional success on the international stage, with multiple Commonwealth Games medals between them and an impressive collection of national and international titles. Sophie is a Commonwealth gold medallist and a serial National Finals winner, while Sam has medalled at every Commonwealth Games he has competed in, alongside numerous national and international honours.

What makes their story even more special is the shared journey as brother and sister at the very top of their sport. Having grown up immersed in bowls through their family’s deep sporting roots, they have pushed and inspired each other throughout their careers, both competing at the highest level while carrying the same drive for excellence and success on the world stage.

The Tolchard family name carries a rich sporting heritage across bowls, cricket and football, and Sam and Sophie continue to uphold that legacy with dedication, talent and professionalism at the very highest level. The partnership also carries a historic family link to the business, with previous generations involved in its early history.

Tolchards will be supporting them as they continue their impressive journey at the top of lawn bowls throughout 2026.
