Tolchards We are a drinks wholesaler, supplying over 2500 customers in the South of England.

THE STORY SO FAR

In March 2010 in a 14,000 sq ft warehouse in Decoy, Newton Abbot, Jim Mardell had a vision to create a privately owned drinks company that could respond quickly to customer needs and deliver an outstanding service with the minimum of fuss. October 2013 saw Tolchards take over the Hartridges customer base, acquiring over 200 customers delivered from our depot in Petersfield. In M

ay 2015,Sedgemoor Drinks was acquired which further expands the geographic coverage along with a quality Customer base of a further 450 customers

Locally sourced ales, craft beers, ciders and soft drinks form an important strand of the business. Agreements based on good old fashioned values have often been cemented by a hand shake followed by celebrating with a glass or two! These partnerships drive sales and are genuinely designed to protect local jobs and create value within the community we serve. Wines continue to be at the heart of the company’s product portfolio combining a mixture of exclusive labels, classics, funky unusual styles and boutique wines. By forming a close relationship with a European Wine Bottler we have unlocked the capability to source ‘Tolchards Exclusive’ labels from all leading wine producing countries. We now have over 1250 trading customers which has given us great confidence that the company can compete with the mainly ‘national’ owned competitors by providing unrivalled service levels:

Our Head Lines bi monthly promotional brochure includes offers on many best selling brands together with an extensive portfolio of cask ales. Our aims remain very clear – to be the most professional supplier for all your drinks needs on one delivery with one invoice. Customers are greeted as a name not account numbers and you can be assured that all deliveries will be on our own transport by our well trained staff!

We are delighted to be partnering with lawn bowls siblings Sam and Sophie Tolchard this season, two outstanding athletes from one of Devon’s most successful sporting families.

Both proud representatives of England, Sam and Sophie have achieved exceptional success on the international stage, with multiple Commonwealth Games medals between them and an impressive collection of national and international titles. Sophie is a Commonwealth gold medallist and a serial National Finals winner, while Sam has medalled at every Commonwealth Games he has competed in, alongside numerous national and international honours.

What makes their story even more special is the shared journey as brother and sister at the very top of their sport. Having grown up immersed in bowls through their family’s deep sporting roots, they have pushed and inspired each other throughout their careers, both competing at the highest level while carrying the same drive for excellence and success on the world stage.

The Tolchard family name carries a rich sporting heritage across bowls, cricket and football, and Sam and Sophie continue to uphold that legacy with dedication, talent and professionalism at the very highest level. The partnership also carries a historic family link to the business, with previous generations involved in its early history.

Tolchards will be supporting them as they continue their impressive journey at the top of lawn bowls throughout 2026.

NEW WINE – Luna Argenta

"Silver Moon” draws its inspiration from the magic of Puglia’s moonlit vineyards. This powerful cuvée of Negroamaro and Primitivo is vinified using the traditional appassimento method, where grapes are gently dried to concentrate flavour and character. The result is a wine that embodies the warmth, intensity, and soul of southern Italy.
