🍽️ Say hello to the Link Up 'Secret Restaurant Club'!

Thanks to Nick, each month some of us have been heading out to a surprise local restaurant for a bite to eat, plus a drink or two! This month we tried out the brilliant Meat 59 and it's safe to say the food was a hit!

While business networking is important, real relationships are often built in moments like these. It's a relaxed way for us to catch up outside of the usual meetings and spend time getting to know each other better.

Another brilliant evening with great company and great food - we're all excited to see where will we eat this month...

🔧 From boiler services and general maintenance, to full bathroom and heating installations - does it all.

At last week’s meeting we heard from Simon Veasey of BVEC Plumbing and Heating during our Member Spotlight slot, and it was fascinating to learn more about the sheer breadth of work he and his team carry out across Torbay and South Devon.

With over 30 years of experience, BVEC provide trusted plumbing and heating services for homes and businesses alike. Simon talked us through some of their key services including boiler servicing, landlord gas safety checks, general maintenance, heating installations and full bathroom setups – as well as helping customers with everything from a leaky tap to full system upgrades.

BVEC pride themselves on quality workmanship and honest, transparent service, whether it’s routine maintenance or an emergency callout. Many of our members have trusted their team for over a decade now and cannot fault them.

Want to build confidence presenting your business? 🗣️

At Link Up, all our members get the chance to practise their presentation skills in a friendly, supportive environment. From weekly 45 second snippets, to alternating business slot presentations and member spotlights, everyone has the opportunity to
present. Though it can seem intimidating at first, it’s a great way to grow your confidence and get comfortable speaking in front of a room.

If the formalities of networking have put you off in the past, we'd encourage you to give our group a go. There's no pressure or judgement at all - we have all had the first-time nerves before so understand just how daunting it may feel! ☺️

Shoutout to our youngest ever guest, Eddie 👏

As part of his school's work experience day, Paul Rose's son Eddie stepped in to fill Simon Fisher’s spot a few weeks ago. After getting stuck in with networking pre-meeting, he then confidently delivered a presentation to a full room, and as expected, he absolutely nailed it! All of us were immensely impressed by his effort and hope he joins us as a guest again soon - a huge well done! 😁

The best conversations don’t always happen during the meeting… they happen over breakfast ☕🥐

Many of the most valuable moments at Link Up happen come during what many consider the most anticipated part of the morning - breakfast! It's when everyone relaxes and conversations flow naturally, allowing our members to open up about what they’re working on and how other members can support them.

These informal chats over a full english often lead to new collaborations and referral opportunities - as well as strengthening personal relationships. We also leave fuelled and ready to start the day! It's a win-win.

We had a full house at our meeting this week and with so many people in the room, the energy was unreal 🙌

With a record 13 guests, it was fantastic to link up with so many new businesses and fresh faces. New conversations, new perspectives, and loads of great ideas flowing. It's exactly how networking should be!

Thank you Duncan of fit20 Torquay 💪🏼

It was a pleasure to hear from Duncan last week in our spotlight slot. Always one of our liveliest members (yes, even at 7am!), Duncan delivered an incredibly engaging presentation and it was fantastic to see just how much he has helped local people... especially those who themselves have claimed to "hate exercise"!

Who are Fit20? Fit20 offer an intensive 20-minute strength training session once a week - to help you stay healthy and fit, no matter your age or fitness level.
