Our Torbay coffee tour rolls on ☕️

Last week’s coffee morning took us to the wonderful in Paignton. Great coffee, a lovely team, and the perfect start to our very sunny 1-2-1 walk. Thank you for having us!

Are you a local café that's open at 8am (or could open a little early for us 😉) on a Thursday? Drop us a comment below. Our group would love to come and visit! 😄

What do Andy Gait and a fax machine have in common? They've both lived through an entire industry transformation! 📠

At last week's Link Up, we had the pleasure of having Andy from Origin8 talk us through his impressive career in insurance - from the late 1980s right up to today. It was an eye-opening reminder of just how much things have changed, not just in business but also in terms of technology!

He took us back to the days of filing cabinets stacked floor to ceiling, chunky office computers, and a world where insurance was almost entirely done face-to-face, in-branch. Fast forward to now, and it's virtually all online - different tech, different processes, and a completely different way of doing business. Not to mention AI...
It's easy to forget how much change happens gradually until someone lays out 40 years of it.

An absolutely great spotlight from Andy and one that certainly had us all thinking about what the future of our businesses might look like 🧠

Here's the lowdown on last week 👇🏼

It was back to the meeting room where we had two fantastic spotlights, from our members Gary from and Peter from fit20 Torquay. Both gave us a real insight into their businesses - not just what they do, but the story behind them, who they work with and what drives them day to day. It's always the personal side of these talks that sticks with people, and both were no exception. We left with some great ideas of how we could better refer business to them.

If you'd like to come along and see what Link Up Torbay is all about, get in touch - it's always great to welcome new faces.

This week we've got our big social day out instead of our regular meetings... a jam-packed afternoon conquering the Topsham 10! It's not all about formal breakfast meetings for us! 🍻

Last week's meeting looked a little different... we swapped the networking table for a stroll along Torquay seafront, and what a morning it was! ☀️

The heatwave and calm seas certainly showed Torbay at its very best.

A huge thank you to for fuelling us all with some delicious drinks - they were definitely needed in that heat! ☕

And, of course, thank you to everyone who joined us for the walk. It's always great to welcome new faces alongside our regulars, and mornings like this are a reminder that networking doesn't always have to happen around a table.

We've got our social night next week and our regular meeting at the Imperial Hotel tomorrow morning. If you'd like to come along and see what we're all about, you can book your ticket by visiting our website: linkuptorbay.co.uk 🎟️

Now, let's hope today brings another reason to celebrate... come on England! ⚽🏆🤞

The question is: What are Simon and Matt so engrossed in? 👀
..Chris Mitchell's spotlight, of course! 😆

Chris from Coast Property Surveyors talked us through the wide range of services his business offers in his latest presentation - including Level 1, 2 and 3 RICS surveys, as well as RICS valuations, using local case studies to highlight some of the common findings he sees in local Torbay properties. He also took us on a myth-busting journey through the world of surveying - from rising damp and condensation, all the way through to cement-based repairs and cracks in walls!

Safe to say we all came away having learnt something new… and are fully convinced that skipping a survey on a property purchase is definitely not worth the risk!

Want to Link Up with Chris? Come along to our breakfast meeting next Thursday at the Imperial in Torquay.

A great evening on & off the court 🎾🍻

This week a few of us headed to the padel courts in Torquay for a social evening and a run around… and though some were new to the game, everyone gave it their best shot! And obviously after breaking a sweat, the only right thing to do was to rehydrate afterwards with a drink and a good chat 😉

It’s not all business at Link Up - getting together socially is a big part of what makes our group what it is. Thanks to everyone who came down.
