Last week's meeting looked a little different... we swapped the networking table for a stroll along Torquay seafront, and what a morning it was! ☀️

The heatwave and calm seas certainly showed Torbay at its very best.

A huge thank you to for fuelling us all with some delicious drinks - they were definitely needed in that heat! ☕

And, of course, thank you to everyone who joined us for the walk. It's always great to welcome new faces alongside our regulars, and mornings like this are a reminder that networking doesn't always have to happen around a table.

We’re delighted to officially welcome Carly Wedderburn from to Link Up 👏

Carly is the Operations Director at LW Construction Ltd, overseeing the day-to-day running of the business and helping ensure every project is delivered with care, structure and a real focus on quality from start to finish.

Based in South Devon, LW Construction Ltd specialises in high-quality building, renovation and conservation work, including home renovations, loft conversions, extensions, kitchens, bathrooms and external works. Their team takes huge pride in craftsmanship and doing things properly - something that really comes across when you meet Carly.

Outside of work, Carly enjoys family life in Paignton with her husband and two children, alongside a love of live music, cooking and bringing people together over good food.

..Chris Mitchell's spotlight, of course! 😆

Chris from Coast Property Surveyors talked us through the wide range of services his business offers in his latest presentation - including Level 1, 2 and 3 RICS surveys, as well as RICS valuations, using local case studies to highlight some of the common findings he sees in local Torbay properties. He also took us on a myth-busting journey through the world of surveying - from rising damp and condensation, all the way through to cement-based repairs and cracks in walls!

Safe to say we all came away having learnt something new… and are fully convinced that skipping a survey on a property purchase is definitely not worth the risk!

A great evening on & off the court 🎾🍻

This week a few of us headed to the padel courts in Torquay for a social evening and a run around… and though some were new to the game, everyone gave it their best shot! And obviously after breaking a sweat, the only right thing to do was to rehydrate afterwards with a drink and a good chat 😉

It’s not all business at Link Up - getting together socially is a big part of what makes our group what it is. Thanks to everyone who came down.

Peter Eggleston from Fit20 Torbay delivered this week’s member spotlight, talking us through his business and the benefits of strength training in a really engaging presentation. Drawing on common barriers to entry for exercise, Peter highlighted just who might enjoy the style of training they offer... and it looks like some of us will be down in the next few weeks to try it out! 💪🏼

Meanwhile, Kelly Davies from O’Neill & Holman took over the business slot and, as you can probably tell from the photo, kept everyone entertained in true Kelly style 😆

Hello Carly and Tom! 👋🏼

We’re thrilled to have recently welcomed two new members to Link Up - Carly Wedderburn from LW Construction Ltd and Tom Baldwin from Quilter Financial Advisers 👏

It’s great to have both a builder and a financial adviser on board, adding even more experience and expertise to our group. They've already brought so much energy to the room, and have been busy connecting our current members to their networks with some great referrals already!

🍽️ Say hello to the Link Up 'Secret Restaurant Club'!

Thanks to Nick, each month some of us have been heading out to a surprise local restaurant for a bite to eat, plus a drink or two! This month we tried out the brilliant Meat 59 and it's safe to say the food was a hit!

While business networking is important, real relationships are often built in moments like these. It's a relaxed way for us to catch up outside of the usual meetings and spend time getting to know each other better.

Another brilliant evening with great company and great food - we're all excited to see where will we eat this month...

At last week’s meeting we heard from Simon Veasey of BVEC Plumbing and Heating during our Member Spotlight slot, and it was fascinating to learn more about the sheer breadth of work he and his team carry out across Torbay and South Devon.
