🦆💙 We might be the new kids on the block in the West Midlands, but we’re already getting involved in the local community!

Our newest branch, based at The Waterfront in Brierley Hill, is looking forward to taking part in the Black Country Duck Race this summer in support of the wonderful The Mary Stevens Hospice 🏁

It’s a fantastic family day out, with stalls, entertainment and hundreds of toy ducks racing along the canal to raise money for a brilliant local charity. And of course … we've entered our very own Alcedo Care duck! 🦆💙 We're the official stage sponsor, so look out for our kingfisher mascot, Al, who will be entertaining the crowds 😆

We’ve had great fun getting our duck race-ready and can’t wait for the big day. Fingers crossed for a winning performance! 🤞🏆

🌞🐶 Keeping your dogs safe in the heat

At Alcedo Care, we're big fans of dogs, and you can usually find a couple running around the office.

As temperatures rise, it's important to remember that dogs can struggle in the heat too. A few simple tips can keep them happy and safe:

💧 Always make sure they have plenty of fresh water
🌳 Keep them in the shade and avoid hot rooms
🚶 Walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler
🐾 Remember, pavements can get very hot - if it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws!
🚗 Never leave dogs in a parked car, even for a few minutes

.. but a few simple steps can help keep you safe and comfortable during warmer weather:

💧 Drink plenty of water throughout the day
🏠 Keep curtains closed and stay in the coolest room you can
👕 Wear loose, light-coloured clothing
🌳 Avoid being outside during the hottest part of the day (usually 11am - 3pm)
🍓 Eat light meals and keep refreshing snacks nearby
📞 Check in on older relatives, neighbours or anyone who may need a little extra support

Hot weather can be particularly difficult for older people and those with health conditions, so a quick phone call or visit can make all the difference. 💙

Stay cool, stay hydrated and take care of each other. ☀️
