Calls Mount To Rename Prince Of Wales Bridge In Honour Of Bonnie Tyler 🎤 🌉 🏴 📰 ❤️
Do You Agree? 🤔🙏
A social media movement is capturing the hearts of the public across The Valleys and beyond, as fans of the late Welsh music icon Bonnie Tyler campaign to have the Prince of Wales Bridge renamed in her memory.
Following the singer's passing at the age of 75 in Portugal last month, and her recent funeral in Swansea on August 17, a widely shared digitally altered image has sparked conversations online.
The image shows the famous M4 bridge sign bearing the name Bonnie Tyler Bridge.
Supporters argue that dedicating the main gateway between England and Wales to the Total Eclipse of the Heart hitmaker would serve as the ultimate tribute to one of the nation's most successful and beloved musical exports.
Tyler, who was born in Skewen and remained deeply connected to her Welsh roots throughout her global career, was recently remembered by crowds in Swansea who gathered to pay their respects to the Welsh queen as her coffin, draped in the Welsh flag, was brought home.
While the bridge, originally known as the Second Severn Crossing, was officially renamed to mark the 70th birthday of the then Prince Charles in 2018, many fans feel that replacing it with a celebration of a working-class Welsh legend would be a fitting gesture.
Whether the calls translate into official action remains to be seen, but the viral image has certainly provided a heartwarming topic of discussion for our 142,000 followers and fans everywhere mourning the loss of a true musical icon.
