At last week’s Planet C conference we asked the audience what their drivers for sustainability were and this is what we got back. Purpose right at the centre 💚 which is of course where we think it should be! Your purpose is your Why, in terms of why your business exists in the first place or in terms of the contribution or change you are looking to make. Being really clear on your purpose helps define your strategy, your product development, your communications…. And we often take businesses back to defining their purpose when we start working on sustainability strategy. If you’d like a chat about finding your purpose, get in touch!

What an amazing day! Today we hosted 175+ attendees at the second Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Planet C sustainability conference. We curated an agenda on the theme of business leadership for sustainability and after last week’s announcement on the weakening of several UK carbon reduction policies, business leadership is more necessary than ever. It was great to listen to the talks and discussions. Thanks to everyone who came, for your questions and contributions. The energy on the room was just great and I hope we can carry that momentum forward! More to come!

In the lead up to ’s Planet C conference, here’s another chance to join our Carbon Literacy Training , specifically designed for SMEs and accredited by the project.
Is this course right for me?
This course is aimed at representatives from SMEs who are looking to increase their awareness of carbon dioxide costs, impacts, and most importantly how to reduce emissions. We are trying to create a community of Net Zero champions within SMEs and so the course would be especially useful for those people who have a responsibility for sustainability and carbon reduction within their role (or would like to take the lead in the future)
The course will enable you to empower your team to take climate action and will also give you the knowledge, skills and confidence to act to reduce your carbon emissions to support your company’s journey to Net Zero.
Participants must complete the full 8 hours of learning (including some self study and follow-up work) to obtain their certification from the Carbon Literacy Project. This course is online and consists of 2 x 3.5 hour sessions:
24th October 2023 - 09.30 until 13.00
31st 0ctober 2023 - 09.30 until 13.00
Zoom joining instructions will be sent closer to the date.
We have been running Carbon Literacy Training since 2020 and the course will be facilitated by Green Works cofounder Paul Atkinson - please see below for more information. We keep our group sizes small (maximum 15 ) to allow for optimal interaction and involvement.
We have alternative dates available in December. We hope you can join us! Booking here bit.ly/carbonliteracyforsme

Earlier this week we ran a ‘Reduction and Efficiency workshop’ with one of ESG working groups at Bott in Bude. The team observed the production and assembly areas to identify any wasteful activities and opportunities for improvements. Fantastic to see such an enthusiastic group come up with clear and actionable ideas, all part of Bott’s ESG journey. 🙌🏻

Posted • ◾️What the heck is Carbon Literacy? It is ‘the knowledge and capacity required to create a positive shift in how mankind lives, works and behaves in response to climate change’.

The creative industry has always been a driver for change. This ‘pay what you can’ Carbon Literacy course for creatives aims to take you from a vague, or even pretty good understanding of carbon lingo, to the ability to take confident action in reducing the carbon footprint - both for the daily activities that come with your work and life in general. Businesses and individuals taking part can expect to emerge upskilled and motivated to reduce their carbon impact. Consider yourself invited.

The course is delivered by Leap and and certified to a standard accredited by the project and recognised by the United Nations. It is suitable for all different levels and on completion, you will be awarded a certificate for your efforts.

The upcoming training will be delivered in 2 sessions (one online, and one in-person), and we ask participants to attend both for the complete experience:

💻 the online session: 16th of May, between 3pm - 5pm

🙋🙋‍♀️ the in-person session: 18th of May, between 9am - 3.30pm (with short lunch break) at the .bakery.studios

The cost of the course is £800 which WE'LL be funding, tickets are 'pay what you can afford' (we’ll donate this to a Cornwall-based charity or CIC).

There are only limited spaces available so be sure to secure your spot quickly via the link in bio 🙋!
