Truro City Councillors came on a mini tour of Newham on Friday 5th June.

They visited Newham Road, Heron Way, Harvey Road and Higher Newham Lane highlighting the 180 businesses and 1,500 employees, generating £4m in business rates and a cumulative turnover of a small town like Camborne of c£250m.

I just wish to thank them for coming and being aware of the opportunities and challenges that Newham faces.

Cadet Corporal Oscar Hunt from St John Ambulance Truro's Youth Group was a finalist to be Cornwall County Cadet.

He competed with several other senior cadets and as a finalist received a commemorative plaque, trophy and an initiation to the 40th anniversary celebrations of the national contest.

Truro’s St John Ambulance youth group is based on Newham Industrial Estate and boats this year’s Cornwall County Cadet.

Oscar, 17, has volunteered 150 hours at local events and competed against 38 cadets as a finalist.
