Today, on Global Wellness Day, we're reflecting on something that sits at the heart of Landscape Architecture — the power of well-designed spaces to support the health and happiness of the communities they serve.

Our wellbeing is shaped by the environments we move through every day — the parks we walk in, the places we pause and the spaces where we come together. At MeiLoci, we believe that thoughtful design has a genuine role to play in creating healthier, happier and more connected communities.

A return visit to Lesnes Abbey Woods in the sunshine - buzzing with people, an archaeological dig underway and an historic jewellery making group in action. Great to see the site so well used.

Landscape can act as a narrative medium, revealing layered histories while supporting contemporary use. Heritage-led design balances conservation with accessibility - ensuring that historic places remain legible, relevant and actively used by the communities they serve.

A pretty perfect way to spend World Environment Day today & World Peatland Day earlier this week!

This week we were out in the stunning Cumbrian landscape, working with an amazing team on the landscape design and interpretation of their Flagship Peatland project.

A huge thank you to the ecologists and expert guides who took us around the recovery sites and shared their knowledge, passion and vision for these special places.

Incredible landscapes, inspiring people, and a project we’re excited to be part of. We can’t wait to help tell its story.

We loved hosting a series of creative workshops in Gravesend, bringing together residents, community groups and visitors to imagine what St Andrews Gardens could become.

The knowledge, memories and creativity shared were incredible.

Together, we explored the River Thames and its influence on Gravesend — from heritage and migration to trade, wildlife and cultural diversity — through hands‑on making, conversation and storytelling.

A heartfelt thank you to Gravesham Borough Council , SAND , Pathways , St George’s Art Centre, Chloe at Blueprints Arts .arts, Gravy Girls .girls, Gravesend Gurdwara , and to everyone who joined us and made these sessions so special.

Watch this space as we explore the artwork and insights from the workshops and begin shaping how the final designs for the artwork and interpretation will be embedded into the gardens.

Over the past year we have helped deliver a number of feasibility studies and community masterplans across Cornwall - listening, sketching, imagining and empowering communities to re-imagine the places they call home.

Cornwall Council’s Community Levelling Up Programme sits at the heart of this work — a grant scheme focused on community driven regeneration, improving public spaces, greener infrastructure and stronger local identity. It is part of the region’s Good Growth approach, funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Each masterplan starts with people. We lead the full public consultation process, actively engaging with local schools, organisations, residents and Councillors to understand what matters most. Pulling together stories of what a place has been and what it could become and thoughtfully embedding these ideas in to the final design concept to create spaces that reflect the priorities and aspirations of the Community.

We’re proud to share that we have formally adopted a four‑day working week. After a successful six‑month trial, we have now been awarded Gold Standard accreditation by the 4 Day Week Foundation — a recognition given to employers who permanently reduce working hours while maintaining full pay.

This decision has been a long time in the making. Over the past six months, we’ve carefully tested how a shorter working week would function across our projects, our client relationships, and our internal workflows. Alongside the trial, we carried out extensive research and spoke with fellow B Corp businesses who have already made the shift. Their insights helped us shape an approach that works for our team, our clients, and our practice.

We know that adopting a four‑day week comes with responsibility. We want to demonstrate that this model can work in a design‑led, consultancy‑based environment — and we hope our experience can support other businesses considering the same step.

As a certified B Corp, we hold ourselves to high standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. Prioritising purpose alongside profit means balancing the needs of our workers, our communities, and the planet. Moving to a four‑day week is a natural extension of these values — a way to support wellbeing, create space for life outside work, and build a more sustainable future for our team.

We remain dedicated to creating spaces that people love to spend time in, across Cornwall and the UK, shaped by community, heritage, and the natural environment. A four‑day week reinforces that mission. By investing in our team’s wellbeing, we’re better placed to produce landscape‑led design that is considered, resilient, and sustainable.

Last month, Kelly and Graham had the pleasure of joining Falmouth University students for an inspiring Employability Month event, meeting Cornish B Corps and sharing what a purposeful business looks like in the real world. It was a brilliant opportunity for students to connect with B Corp businesses in a relaxed, informal setting — full of great conversations, curiosity, and future‑focused energy. The bagels weren’t bad either. Always proud to support the next generation of talent.

We loved hosting a series of creative workshops a few weeks ago in Gravesend, bringing together local residents, community groups and visitors to help shape the future of St Andrews Gardens.

The Gurdwara workshop on Friday 27th March was filled with knowledge, memories, stories, creativity and vibrant artwork — each piece inviting its own interpretation and reminding us how deeply Gravesend is rooted in people, culture and history.

The workshops also co-incided with the start of the annual Vaisakhi celebrations in Gravesend with the flag raising ceremony on Community Square followed by Gatka, Bhangra and music performances by the community from Guru Nanak Darbar Gurdwara Gravesend.

Credit to Jaspal Rai for the wonderful video capturing these shared moments of celebration, a true reflection of the diversity and community spirit that makes Gravesend so unique.

A big thank you to everyone who came along and shared their ideas, it was inspiring to see so many voices contributing to what comes next.

We are excited to share a striking aerial view of St Anthony's Gardens, recently opened as part of Phase 1 of the Coinagehall development.

Captured from above, the new landscape begins to reveal its form - set to soften and evolve as the planting establishes and the seasons shift. We’re looking forward to sharing more as the gardens come to life.

A big thank you to for bringing us on board as part of the design team, and to Cormac for delivering the build. It’s been a pleasure collaborating with and MBA Consulting throughout the process to help shape this space for Penzance.
