💬 What should you expect from a home care provider? It’s a question families often have to answer at a time when they’re already dealing with a great deal.

This month, our Registered Care Manager, Katy Salliss, features in Tunbridge Wells Business Magazine, discussing the standards we believe families should expect when choosing care – from familiar Care Professionals and genuinely personalised support to communication, family involvement and a team that takes the time to know the person behind the care plan.

We’re very proud to see our Braeburn Care approach featured locally, but we also wanted to take the conversation further. So we’ve used the interview as the basis for our latest website article: https://braeburncare.co.uk/outstanding-home-care-our-registered-care-manager-explains-what-should-you-expect/

If you’re currently considering care for yourself or a loved one, it’s designed to give you some useful questions to ask – whichever provider you ultimately choose. For an informal conversation about care; 01892 577680 | [email protected] | www.braeburncare.co.uk

🔑 What does getting a new set of keys have to do with great home care? More than you might think...

Recently, one of our customers needed some new keys cut. So, as part of the support we provide, our team took care of it – making a trip to the local Timpson and getting the job sorted.

It’s an everyday errand, but it’s a good example of why truly personalised home care isn’t confined to a set list of traditional care tasks.

Sometimes what would help most is personal care or medication support. On another day, it could be collecting something, helping organise an appointment, picking up shopping or taking care of a practical job that has become difficult to manage alone. It’s about understanding what would genuinely make life easier for that individual – and being responsive enough to help.

Our latest blog, explores how practical support with the ordinary things in life can help people retain control, reduce unnecessary worry and continue living confidently in their own home; https://braeburncare.co.uk/more-than-a-set-of-keys-what-real-independence-at-home-looks-like/

“With the right support around you, you really can achieve anything.” Those words from one of our Care Professionals, Suzy, meant a great deal to all of us.

At Braeburn Care, we know that every member of our team brings their own experiences and journey. Creating an environment where people feel welcomed, supported and able to thrive has always been one of our biggest priorities.

When our team feel valued and confident, our customers benefit too. That’s why we’re committed to investing in our people just as much as we invest in delivering exceptional care.

Thank you, Suzy, for sharing your experience so openly. We’re incredibly proud to have you as part of the Braeburn Care family. ❤️🍎❤️

Sometimes the first signs that a parent may need a little more support are easy to overlook.

They may be going out less. The fridge isn’t as well stocked. They’re relying on you more often. Perhaps their appearance or usual routines have changed. Or there may be growing confusion around medication – what needs to be taken, when it was last taken, or whether a dose has been missed altogether.

None of these things automatically mean someone can no longer live independently. But they can be signs that it’s time to pay a little closer attention. For families, the difficult question is often: when should we step in?

Our latest blog looks at 10 signs an elderly parent may need help at home, including some of the less obvious changes families might notice; https://braeburncare.co.uk/signs-an-elderly-parent-needs-help-at-home-what-families-should-look-for/

Because introducing the right support early doesn’t have to take independence away. In many cases, it can help someone protect their independence and remain safely at home for longer.

If you’ve started noticing changes in someone you love, speak to the Braeburn Care team for an informal, no-obligation conversation about what support could look like; 01892 577680 | [email protected] | www.braeburncare.co.uk

During a recent visit, one of our team spent time supporting a customer with a series of word and logic puzzles. It wasn’t simply about finding the answers - it was about stimulating the mind, sharing conversation, building confidence and enjoying meaningful companionship; https://braeburncare.co.uk/cognitive-stimulation-at-home-powerful-everyday-activities-helping-older-adults-stay-independent/

As we age, staying mentally active is just as important as maintaining physical wellbeing. Activities like these can help encourage memory, concentration, communication and a continued sense of purpose, all while creating moments of genuine connection.

It’s a reminder that exceptional home care isn’t measured solely by the practical tasks we complete. It’s found in the relationships we build, the smiles we share and the time we invest in helping people continue living fulfilling, independent lives in the place they love most - their own home.

If you’re supporting an ageing parent, relative or loved one and would like to discover how personalised home care can enhance both wellbeing and independence, get in touch with our friendly team today; 01892 577680 | [email protected] | www.braeburncare.co.uk

Every uniform has a story, and behind every member of our team is a passion for making a difference. Our Behind the Uniform series shines a light on the people who deliver exceptional care every day, sharing what inspired them to join the profession and what caring means to them. This month, we’re introducing Amanda (Amy).

Amy first started working in care at just 18 years old. From the very beginning, she knew she had found something she genuinely loved. As a child, whenever she was asked what she wanted to be when she grew up, her answer was always the same: “A nurse.” After stepping away from care to raise her family, Amy spent several years in a different role, but she never lost the feeling that caring was where she truly belonged. She then made the decision to return to the profession and quickly realised she’d made the right choice.

“I always treat my customers like family. Everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, dignity and respect. Encouraging independence is really important to me because I wouldn’t want someone making my choices for me.”

Amy is passionate about helping people continue enjoying life, whether that’s a trip to the theatre, attending appointments, having lunch out or simply spending time talking and listening. She believes care is about far more than meeting practical needs – it’s about supporting both physical and emotional wellbeing. We’re delighted Amy chose to continue her career journey with Braeburn Care and we’re proud to have her as part of our growing team.

At Braeburn Care, these aren’t just words - they’re the standard we set ourselves every single day.

Whether we’re supporting someone to remain independent at home, providing reassurance after a hospital stay or simply being there when it matters most, our aim is always the same: to deliver care with compassion, dignity and purpose.

If you or someone you love could benefit from personalised home care, we’d be delighted to have a conversation about how we can help; 01892 577680 | [email protected] | www.braeburncare.co.uk

Helping someone doesn’t always mean doing it for them.

One of our customers wanted to make herself a cup of tea. Rather than taking over, our Care Professional stayed by her side, offering reassurance and encouragement while she remained in control.

It may seem like a small moment, but it’s exactly these everyday tasks that help people maintain confidence, dignity and independence.

At Braeburn Care, we believe great home care is about enabling people to continue doing as much as they comfortably and safely can for themselves - both during our visits and in the hours between them; https://braeburncare.co.uk/promoting-independence-at-home-why-helping-isnt-always-doing/

Can’t be there when a loved one comes home?

When a loved one is discharged from hospital, families often face a difficult reality. You want to be there to help them settle back in, make sure they’re comfortable and provide reassurance during those important first few hours.

But work, distance and other commitments don’t always make that possible.

Our Home from Hospital Support service helps bridge that gap, providing practical support, companionship and reassurance when it’s needed most. Because peace of mind matters too.
