*The market for Thailand and other Asia material remains particularly strong at present, with increasing international demand for better mid-to-late 20th century material. Collections that may have sat untouched for years are now attracting significant auction interest from specialist buyers worldwide.
**Modern Royal Mail material continues to perform strongly. Many households have built up presentation packs, Smiler sheets, commemorative issues and limited-edition releases over the years, often tucked away in drawers or cupboards and forgotten about. As this auction demonstrated, these collections can attract significant interest and may be worth far more than expected.
***As the world’s first adhesive postage stamp used in a public postal system, the Penny Black remains one of Britain’s most famous and collectable stamps, continuing to capture the imagination of collectors nearly 200 years later. Many people still discover early Victorian stamps hidden away in old albums, family correspondence and inherited collections often without realising collectors are actively searching for them today.
