AI can help bring your ideas to life. But what happens when it’s time to print? 👀 🖨️
We’re seeing a lot more AI-generated designs being supplied as print files, and while they can look great on a phone or screen, that doesn’t always mean they’re ready for print.
Here are a few things worth checking - remember, we’re here to help!
🖨️ Resolution matters. Artwork generated by AI isn’t always at the resolution needed (usually much much smaller than required) for the finished product. A design that looks sharp on screen might become blurry or pixelated when enlarged for a poster, banner or other printed item.
📐 Getting the setup right. Print-ready artwork needs the right dimensions, colour settings and bleed for the product you’re ordering. Text, logos and smaller details can also look a little different when printed - AI text is not real text, it’s just pixels so words can become distorted and logos can look fuzzy.
©️ A quick copyright check. AI tools can sometimes generate artwork containing elements that are similar to existing designs or artwork. If you’re using it to promote your business, it’s worth checking before putting it out there commercially.
So, does that mean you shouldn’t use AI? Absolutely not. AI can be a great starting point for ideas, but getting the finished design right is where a little extra expertise can make all the difference.
At Turriff Printing Services, we have three in-house designers who are more than happy to help. Whether that means recreating your AI-inspired design, refining the details or preparing your artwork properly for print, we can help get it looking its best.
You don’t need to know all the technical bits. That’s what we’re here for!
If you’ve created a design and aren’t sure whether it’s ready to print, give us a shout. We’ll be happy to have a look and talk you through the options.
