This is such a terrible situation and apparently with no proper resolution after several years. The damage it's going to have done to relationships between the Portable Antiquities Scheme and detectorists will be massive, and the damage to the archaeology of the region, potentially even greater. It would be good to get an official update on these missing finds.

A police investigation was launched after treasure handed in by Cumbrian and Lancashire detectorists went missing from museum storage 🔊

A great local and historically very interesting site that we worked on recently. The original site of the medieval Neville Hall. Unfortunately what survived of it by the 19th century was completely removed when the police station was built, but that is an interesting building built by local architect JW Grundy in its own right

We are really proud to begin work on the transformation of one of Ulverston's most distinctive buildings, which will soon be our North West team's new home 🏫

The former police station, on Neville Street, was built in 1881 and has stood derelict for more than 10 years. It will now be brought back to use with a £3.5m investment to create a stunning new workspace for our team, as well as short-stay accommodation and a food and drink destination.
