Yesterday, I had a conversation with a hardworking local business owner who is doing everything she can to keep her hospitality business going.

It really got me thinking… we really need to try to do more about this so, I sent an e mail to our MP Andrew George.

Our hospitality industry is under immense pressure, and VAT is putting even more strain on businesses that are already fighting to survive. Behind every small business is a person, a family, and a team of people who have worked incredibly hard to build something special for our community. Sometimes they can’t even afford to pay themselves, this should never be!

We can’t just sit back and watch these businesses struggle. Our local pubs, cafés, restaurants and hospitality venues are the heart of our communities, providing jobs, bringing people together and giving our towns their character.

It’s time to stand up for our local businesses and make our voices heard.

Take this conversation to our local MP,
e mail him and push for change. We need to shout about the impact VAT is having on hospitality and ask what can be done to give these businesses a fairer chance.

Our local businesses deserve support, not more pressure. ❤️

Well guys… it’s been a whole year since The Boss gave me full creative control of The Bookkeeping Guys socials and what a journey it’s been! 🎉

Social media is such a tricky beast when running a small business. Trying to figure out what’s working, whether you even need to be posting, what do people want to see, keeping up with the ever-changing algorithms and finding the time to create content… it can honestly feel like a never ending job on top of the job!

But ultimately, at the end of the day, the work we do is what matters most.

Over the past year, we’ve met some really fantastic people and businesses, shared plenty of laughs and created some unique content (😂).
But I like to think we’ve also built something relatable, with an element of fun because, let’s face it, P&L, Balance sheets, Trial balance, Spreadsheets and all those numbers can all be a bit boring!

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who follows us, likes, comments, shares, recommends us, it genuinely means so much. 👍🙏

Last week we had a visit from the lovely Zoe from Penzance Leisure Centre who was giving Local Businesses a Free Seven day Fit For Business pass.

We think this is a fantastic idea, what a great way to motivate and encourage workplace health and wellbeing.

Also, it's an opportunity to give the gym a try, meet new people and see what facilities the Leisure Centre has to offer. 💪🏋
