A remote antenna access issue was overcome by using our newest staff members existing skills as a time served scaffolder. Aaron joined us a year ago and works mainly in Orkney and Shetland / the north of Scotland with Carl Matthews.
With the antenna pole being non-climb status, heights were on the limits of free standing alloy towers or our long ladders, and a local cherry picker were not able to send a machine up the steep track. Faced with hiring in and transporting a machine to site via ferry - Aaron came up with a great solution I think. Cables swapped safely, new antennas installed - fault fixed.
Coincidentally, my start in work was 6 years in Scaffolding in Edinburgh, (before harnesses were mandatory!), rest assured we will be keeping Aaron's tickets up to date, what a useful skill to have. I may even get the old belt, spanner and podger out again!
