If you’re thinking about booking a personal branding photographer whether that’s with me or somebody else, here’s something I’d really encourage you to ask:
**What actually happens before the photoshoot?**
Because not every branding shoot is planned in the same way.
Some photographers will turn up on the day, photograph you for the time you’ve booked and deliver your gallery afterwards.
And that may be absolutely fine for what you need.
But if you’re investing in personal branding photography because you need images for your website, social media, launches, newsletters, PR and marketing, I think the preparation is just as important as the photography itself.
When you book a branding shoot with me, we start planning well before I pick up my camera.
First, we meet online so I can understand you, your business, what you offer and what you actually need your photographs to do.
You then work through my branding workbook.
We create a shared Pinterest board where we collect ideas, inspiration, colours, poses, locations and the overall feel you’re drawn to.
Then we meet on Zoom again before the shoot to pull everything together.
We work out:
• the images we definitely need
• outfits and locations
• what you want to promote
• useful props connected to your business
• wide, vertical and horizontal shots
• detail and behind-the-scenes images
So when you arrive on the day, you’re not wondering what to do and I’m not making it up as we go along.
We already have a plan.
There’s still plenty of room for spontaneous moments, but underneath it all there’s a strategy.
Because I don’t want to simply give you some lovely photographs.
I want to create a useful bank of images that genuinely helps you market your business.
So if you’re comparing branding photographers, don’t just look at the finished photographs.
Ask what happens before the camera comes out too.
It can make all the difference.
