Elaine-Gold.com I help founders, SME leaders, and professional services teams adopt AI with clarity, confidence, and control.

I treat AI as a change project — not an IT rollout. That means focusing on roles, behaviours, and ways of working, not just tools. Embracing the joys of being a 'Modern Elder' - sharing my wisdom and experience of being a senior executive and founder, with individuals and teams

We are getting quite good at using AI for work. The rest of life is another matter.

In this short video I explore what we might be overlooking: help with travel plans, everyday tasks, or a sounding board for personal goals.

Over the coming weeks I will share practical ways to use AI outside work, here and in AI Made Useful.

How are you using AI in your personal life? I would love to exchange stories.

A quick question for you: how safe and secure would you feel giving an AI assistant access to your email, your calendar and your files?
I ask because the AI Made Useful readers have been telling me the most useful AI they use right now is exactly that kind of assistant. I have used one myself since September, and this week's Friday Thoughts video is my honest account, including a phone-call feature that impressed my friends more than it impressed me.
The video and the full story are in Friday's issue. You can sign up free here:

Using AI a lot is not the same as using it well. A busy week of prompts tells you very little about whether the work is better for it.
In this week's article I share three plain questions I ask after each piece of AI work: did it save me time once I had checked it, would I stand behind it if a client saw it, and did I know what I shared? Here is the article: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/how-do-you-know-whether-youre-using-ai-well-elaine-gold--tzkse/
Which of the three would you find hardest to answer?

If you want to try AI on a task you repeat each week, start small.

Before sharing anything, check for confidential information and whether the tool is suitable for that work. You can practise with a fictional example.

Then describe what you need from the answer. A proposal opening? A clearer summary? Something else you can actually judge?

My AI Confidence Check gives solo business owners and senior managers individual support with one recurring task.

AI saves me time. The challenge is deciding what I do with it.

It’s easy to fill the gap with another meeting or project, especially when AI offers to create something else for you.

In this video, I talk about stopping to choose. Time for strategic thinking, looking after your health or being with family and friends needs space too.

Tomorrow’s AI Made Useful newsletter includes a practical way to check where your saved time goes.

Yesterday was my last day with WIBN. After two years as a franchisee, running groups in Wimbledon, King's Cross and online with Coco Global, it's time to step back. Thank you to every woman who came to a meeting, gave a talk or brought a friend along. I've loved it, and I'll miss those meetings.

My time now goes to my AI consulting, helping leaders and teams use AI well. If we met through WIBN, please stay in touch.

I cancelled my old AI email tool a couple of months ago. The assistant I use now does far more, and it's fast becoming my exec assistant. It's also made me think hard about what I share with it.

My simple rules: passwords, bank details and client information stay out. Check your settings (in ChatGPT, Settings, then Data Controls). Write down how you use AI. And read everything before it goes out in your name.

What would you never put into an AI tool? I'd love to hear.

If a client asked who is responsible for AI in your business, what would you say?

In this short video, I look at AI safety, company guidelines and the information we share with new AI tools.

I say more in this Friday's AI Made Useful newsletter, including four practical steps you can take now.
