🎆✨ Fireworks, Fun & Lots of Learning at Small Wonders! ✨🎆

What a lovely, busy morning we’ve had today! ❤️

We started our day with our usual circle time, enjoying a lovely story together, encouraging our listening skills, concentration and love of books. 📚

🎆 Next, it was all about FIREWORKS! 🎆

We watched some spectacular firework displays on the screen, and the children were fascinated! We talked about all the beautiful colours, the different shapes the fireworks made as they exploded, the loud bangs and crackles, and whether the fireworks were BIG or small!

There was so much wonderful conversation, curiosity and excitement! 🌈✨

🎨 Then it was time to get creative!

Armed with lots of paint, glitter, glue and our very own little hands, we created some fabulous firework pictures! There was plenty of messy fun as the children explored different textures, mixed colours and used their imaginations to create their own colourful explosions! 🎆🖐️

Afterwards, we enjoyed some lovely child-led free play.

😂 Some of our little ones invented a hilarious game of “Who can pull the silliest face?” There were lots of giggles, funny expressions and laughter as they took turns trying to outdo one another!

🏎️ Meanwhile, our little racing enthusiasts were busy with the cars and racetrack, racing their vehicles, exploring speed and enjoying playing together.

🍽️ Before we knew it, it was lunchtime, followed by a very well-deserved nap for our tired little explorers! 😴❤️

🌟 And just look at all the learning happening through play today!

🌈 Communication & Language: Developing vocabulary, describing colours, shapes, sizes and sounds, sharing ideas and listening to one another.

🎨 Expressive Arts & Design: Exploring colours, textures and materials, using our imaginations and expressing ourselves creatively.

🖐️ Physical Development: Strengthening little hand muscles, developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination through painting, gluing and playing with cars.

❤️ Personal, Social & Emotional Development: Building friendships, sharing laughter, taking turns, developing confidence and enjoying being part of a group.

🌍 Understanding the World: Exploring fireworks, learning about different sounds and visual effects, and developing curiosity about the world around us.

🏎️ Mathematics: Exploring size, shape, speed and position through our firework discussions and car racing.

Another wonderful day of learning, laughter, creativity and making memories at Small Wonders! ❤️✨

🌸 **A Beautiful Day of Colour, Creativity & Culture!** 🌸

We’ve had a lovely day in our setting today! 🥰

This morning, we welcomed all of our little friends in, enjoyed a yummy breakfast and waited for everyone to arrive before starting our day together.

We then gathered for circle time, where we practised our counting, enjoyed some singing and listened to a lovely story. 📚🎶

Today we have been learning all about **Rangoli patterns** as part of our cultural learning. To bring this to life, we enjoyed two special activities:

🎨 We got creative with some beautiful Rangoli pattern painting, exploring colours, shapes and patterns.

🌺 We also had a very special experience as we each had a beautiful henna-inspired pattern drawn onto our hands! The children loved looking at their designs and admiring one another’s patterns.

In between all of our activities, there has been plenty of free play, dancing and lots of smiles and laughter! 💃🕺

Before we knew it, it was time for a yummy lunch followed by some well-deserved naps to recharge our little batteries. 😴💤

**What a wonderful day full of learning, creativity and new experiences!** ❤️

🎉🎂 Happy 3rd Birthday, Lyla! 🎂🎉

Today at Small Wonders we have spent the day celebrating our lovely Lyla turning THREE! 🥳💕

What a wonderful day we’ve had! The children were so excited to help Lyla open her birthday presents, (yes that’s Christmas paper.. lylas granny rocks 😂 ) and of course, everyone was eager to explore her lovely new toys together! 🎁❤️

We’ve danced our socks off, enjoyed lots of party games, shared plenty of giggles and made sure our birthday girl had a very special day! 💃🎶🎈

This afternoon we enjoyed some lovely constructive play with our building blocks, and as always, there was lots of learning happening naturally through play!

🧱 Construction & Problem Solving – Building towers, balancing blocks and discovering what happens when our creations come tumbling down!

🔢 Early Maths – Counting blocks as we stacked them, recognising familiar numbers and exploring size, height and quantity.

🔤 Early Literacy – Spotting letters we recognised on the blocks, naming them and developing our awareness of print.

🌈 Colours & Communication – Identifying and naming colours, chatting about our creations and extending our vocabulary.

🤝 Personal, Social & Emotional Development – Taking turns, sharing resources, working together and celebrating our friend’s special day.

🖐️ Physical Development – Strengthening those little hand muscles, developing hand-eye coordination and practising careful movements as we stacked and balanced.

And perhaps most importantly, today has been about friendship, kindness, togetherness and making happy memories! ❤️

Happy 3rd Birthday, beautiful Lyla! We hope you’ve had the most wonderful day celebrating with all your Small Wonders friends! 🎂🥰

🌈✨ A Lovely Day of Learning at Small Wonders! ✨🌈

After a week off, it was lovely to welcome everyone back and get straight into another busy day of learning, laughter and fun! 🥰

🪔 Learning About Diwali

Today we introduced the children to the wonderful festival of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! ✨

We watched a beautiful children’s story about Rama and Sita, which helped explain the meaning behind this special celebration in a way our little ones could understand.

Through stories like these, we’re helping the children develop an awareness of different cultures, religions and traditions, encouraging curiosity, respect and an understanding of the world around them. 🌍❤️

📚 Circle Time, Stories & Singing

After our little break, we had a lovely catch-up during circle time! We shared our news, enjoyed singing some of our favourite songs and settled back into our familiar routines.

We also enjoyed a wonderful story about a little hedgehog who collects litter in the form of letters! 🦔🔤

The children absolutely loved spotting letters they recognised throughout the story, proudly calling them out as they appeared!

These lovely moments help develop:
⭐ Early literacy and letter recognition
⭐ Listening and attention skills
⭐ Communication and language
⭐ Confidence in speaking within a group
⭐ Turn-taking and participation

🎶🪩 Time to Shake Off Our Sillies!

Of course, no day would be complete without a little silliness! 😂

We turned up the music and enjoyed a fabulous disco, dancing, wiggling and shaking off all those sillies!

Dancing is so much more than just having fun. It encourages coordination, balance, spatial awareness, self-expression and physical development. It’s also a wonderful way for children to release energy and support their emotional wellbeing! 💃🕺

🧸 Little Worlds, BIG Imaginations!

We also spent lots of time exploring our wonderful selection of small world toys and equipment.

From creating imaginary adventures to sharing toys and playing alongside friends, the children were busy developing their creativity, imagination, social skills and communication.

Small world play provides so many opportunities for children to explore their own ideas, build friendships, practise problem-solving and make sense of the world around them. 🌎

❤️ Another lovely day at Small Wonders!

Sometimes the most valuable learning happens through the simplest moments — a story shared together, a letter proudly recognised, a dance with friends or an imaginary adventure.

And that’s exactly what we love about early years education. Learning through play, making memories and having lots of fun along the way! 🥰🌈
