Could fostering fit your family? šŸ’›

There’s no single type of foster carer — and no single type of fostering family.

What matters is being able to offer a child or young person a safe, stable and caring home, with the patience and support to help them feel secure and begin to thrive.

If fostering is something you’ve thought about — even if you’re not sure whether you’d be suitable — a conversation is a good place to start.

Safety and stability can be found in the smallest things.

Knowing what time dinner will be. Knowing where your school bag will be in the morning. Having familiar routines. Being able to ask a question without worrying about the response. Knowing that when someone says they’ll be there, they will.

For a child or young person who has experienced uncertainty, consistency can help create a sense of security and trust.

A safe, stable home isn’t about everything being perfect. It’s about being dependable, patient and present — day after day.

šŸ’š Foster carers can provide the consistency that helps children and young people feel secure and begin to thrive.

MEET THE TEAM:
Claire
Registered Manager

ā€œI qualified as a social worker in 2010 and have spent majority of my social work career working as a children’s social worker. I am passionate about supporting children and young people with ensuring that they have every opportunity available to them to enable them to achieve their goals and aspirations.

With the ever changing systems that children in care are exposed to they require someone fighting their corner to give them a chance of having a family life. In my role as Registered Manager I can support the New Chapters team and wider foster carer group with providing this to our children.ā€

Making an enquiry about fostering doesn’t commit you to becoming a foster carer. It simply starts a conversation.

It’s your chance to tell us a little about yourself, ask questions and find out more about what fostering involves. We can talk through your circumstances, the different types of fostering and what the assessment journey looks like.

If you decide you’d like to explore fostering further, we’ll explain the next steps and be there to guide you through them.

And if you decide it isn’t the right time? That’s okay too.

šŸ’š Curious about fostering? Start with a conversation.

When people think about fostering, it’s easy to think about the big things.

But so much of family life is made up of the ordinary things.

Knowing someone will be there when you get home. Having dinner together. A lift when you need one. Someone asking how your day went — and actually listening. A familiar face cheering you on.

For a child or young person who may not have always had that consistency, those everyday moments can matter enormously.

Fostering isn’t only about providing a place to stay. It’s about providing somewhere a child can begin to feel at home.

If you’d like to find out more about fostering with New Chapters, we’d love to hear from you.
