I recently attended this boiler for its annual service / safety check. On making the appointment I was assured the boiler had been regularly serviced so booked my usual hour slot. On arrival I checked the service history which recorded nothing other than “All ok” and immediately after removing the cover realised all was “not” ok!
Most boiler manufacturers recommend regular changing of gaskets for various reasons, mostly as due to extreme continual heat they break down. It was clear this had never had anything of the sort!
3.5 hrs later we had the following…..
Cleared blocked heat exchanger, replacment seals, replaced leaking auto air vent, new spark electrodes, replacment sensors as they had become damaged due to moisture. To finish off I provided a comprehensive service service sheet to pass to the customer of works completed.
I think this boiler was saved just in time!
