Friday’s session at Wakefield College was an extra special one for us.

Our “One Night, One Choice” drug awareness session wasn’t just about educating students on the consequences of making the wrong decisions on a night out — it also carried a very personal connection close to our hearts.

Roxy, our detection dog, is our daughter Brooke’s beloved dog, who sadly passed away just over 3 years ago. Seeing Brooke remembered on her memorial bench at college was both emotional and incredibly special. She clearly made a huge impact and had such a visible presence around college life.

Now, seeing Roxy walking those same grounds, continuing to make an impact in her own way by helping educate students and sharing important messages about making the right choices, was a real full-circle moment for us. 💚

One night. One choice. One decision can change everything.

Thank you to all the students and staff who engaged so positively with today’s session.

What a fantastic start working alongside our Safer Communities Team and local Colleges across the district!

We kicked things off at New College Pontefract, delivering powerful drug awareness sessions, including demonstrations of our detection dogs and how they operate on a night out.

The message is simple — you have one night, one choice.
Make the wrong decision, and it can ruin your entire career before it’s even begun.

Think smart. Stay safe. Look out for each other.
