It's a scorcher!

So, please make sure you and your team are staying cool.

Did you know there's no maximum legal working temperature for indoor workplaces?

However, employers are legally required to keep the indoor temperature 'reasonable' and provide a fresh, comfortable environment.

So, ensure your workplace temperature is appropriate for the activity taking place.

And don’t forget to consider the effect of wearing required uniforms or protective clothing, too.

Most employees in offices feel comfortable at 20-23°C – so keep a thermometer and cool drinks on hand, the fans or air con on...

And some cash in the pot for when the ice cream van pays a visit!

Is football coming home?

And is your team going to be coming to work late, over-tired and possibly hungover?

The majority of World Cup 2026 matches having late evening or overnight kick-offs as they're being played in North American time zones.

And we can guarantee some people will be late or calling in sick the morning after a home nation's game.

So now is the time to decide how you want the next few weeks of the tournament to play out and set expectations in advance.

The decision is basically yours. But your options include:

⚽ Stick to your normal lateness and absence policies and remind your people in advance of these

OR

⚽ Offer working day flexibility and encourage your people to adjust their start times on post key match days or alternatively agree reduced hours or approved annual leave

Don't forget not everyone cares about 'the beautiful game' or support the same teams - so your decisions and comms should remain inclusive.

Last week, our HR Consultant, Emma Hartley rolled up her sleeves and got stuck in at Disability Sport Yorkshire's Volunteer Day.

She helped to paint, repair and tidy the building and grounds with 19 other big-hearted helpers from We Are Wakefield.

The group made a huge difference to the space that supports so many people across our region.

Great work, Emma!

Last month, we notified our clients of the new rules regarding annual leave records.

We’d like to remind everyone that it’s now a criminal offence to not have adequate holiday records and these records need to be kept for six years.

Good morning!

Our Director, Tracy, will soon be taking part in the epic UK-wide dancing charity fundraiser 'Time to Tap'.

It's in support of the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation - the UK’s only charity dedicated to supporting those affected by lung cancer.

And here are her twinkle toes rehearsing the set routine in preparation for the big day...

Tracy and her weekly tap dance class buddies are hoping to raise £500 for this great cause - but they've a long way to go.
