To all care workers everywhere. Support is available in a crisis. See below 👇
She has worked in adult social care for seven years, in the same job throughout, and is a single mother to two children. When her gran was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, she took time away from work to care for her at home, where her gran wanted to be, while the family waited for a hospice place.
Her manager was understanding. But in her job, days not worked are days not paid. That time away meant losing a significant income at exactly the moment her family needed it most.
After her gran died, grieving and unwell, she fell behind on her bills. Through no fault of her own, the stable home she'd built over many years began to slip out of her control. She and her children have lived in that home for 12 years. She'd built it up from almost nothing to give her family somewhere nice to live.
Now, with arrears she couldn't clear, she faced a court hearing, possession proceedings, and the very real prospect of homelessness. 💛
The Care Workers' Charity awarded her a grant of £500 towards her rent arrears helping to protect her family's home and ease the immediate threat of losing it. This is what your donations make possible.
Care workers give so much to others. When life knocks them down, we're here to help them back up.
