To all care workers everywhere. Support is available in a crisis. See below 👇

She has worked in adult social care for seven years, in the same job throughout, and is a single mother to two children. When her gran was diagnosed with stage four brain cancer, she took time away from work to care for her at home, where her gran wanted to be, while the family waited for a hospice place.

Her manager was understanding. But in her job, days not worked are days not paid. That time away meant losing a significant income at exactly the moment her family needed it most.

After her gran died, grieving and unwell, she fell behind on her bills. Through no fault of her own, the stable home she'd built over many years began to slip out of her control. She and her children have lived in that home for 12 years. She'd built it up from almost nothing to give her family somewhere nice to live.

Now, with arrears she couldn't clear, she faced a court hearing, possession proceedings, and the very real prospect of homelessness. 💛

The Care Workers' Charity awarded her a grant of £500 towards her rent arrears helping to protect her family's home and ease the immediate threat of losing it. This is what your donations make possible.

Care workers give so much to others. When life knocks them down, we're here to help them back up.

Please donate today and help us reach another care worker who needs us

How to identify a stroke

The FAST acronym (Face, Arms, Speech, Time) is a test to quickly identify the three most common signs of stroke.

Face weakness:
Can the person smile?
Has their mouth or eye drooped?

Arm weakness:
Can the person raise both arms fully and keep them there?

Speech problems:
Can the person speak clearly and understand what you say?
Is their speech slurred?

Time to call 999: if you see any one of these signs.

🤍 Growing Older Is One of Life’s Quietest Struggles 🤍

One day, the hands that built homes begin to shake.

The legs that carried families through hard times begin to slow down.

The minds that once remembered every detail sometimes struggle to recall simple things.

While we may notice what they can no longer do, they noticed it long before we did.

Imagine spending decades being independent, helping others, and looking after your family, only to find that the things that once came naturally now require a helping hand.

Sometimes older people aren’t frustrated because they need help.

They’re frustrated because they remember who they used to be.

Their strength.

Their independence.

Their ability to care for everyone else.

So when an elderly parent asks the same question again, or a grandparent takes a little longer than they once did, remember all the years they spent caring for others without complaint.

The elderly do not need reminding of their limitations.

They live with them every day.

What they need is kindness, respect, patience and understanding.

Because growing old is not a weakness.

It is evidence of a life well lived.

A journey filled with love, sacrifice, heartache and resilience.

At Care 2 U, dignity is at the heart of everything we do. We believe every person deserves to be treated with respect, compassion and kindness, ensuring they always feel valued, heard and supported.

🤍 The greatest gift we can give our elders is not perfection… it’s patience. 🤍

💜 National Cancer Survivors Day – 7th June 2026 💜

Today we celebrate the strength, courage, and resilience of cancer survivors everywhere.

National Cancer Survivors Day is a time to honour those who have faced cancer, support those currently on their journey, remember loved ones, and raise awareness of the challenges many survivors continue to face long after treatment ends.

Life after cancer can bring a mix of emotions – relief, gratitude, anxiety, uncertainty, and hope. Recovery isn’t just physical; emotional wellbeing is equally important. Whether you’re a survivor, a family member, a friend, a carer, or a healthcare professional, today is a reminder that no one should face cancer alone.

At Care 2 U, we’re proud to support people living with and beyond cancer, helping them maintain independence, wellbeing, and quality of life in the comfort of their own homes.

To all cancer survivors: your strength inspires us every day. 💜

Unpaid Carers Event on Tuesday 9 June 2026, Walsall Town Hall, Lichfield Street, 10am – 3pm (drop in anytime between these hours)

Carers Week 2026 is fast approaching, and Walsall Council, alongside Walsall Carers Hub and Walsall Together, are delighted to invite you to a special community event celebrating this year’s theme: Building Carer-Friendly Communities.

This inspiring event will shine a spotlight on Social Care & Health, bringing together statutory services, charities, and community organisations that are committed to supporting unpaid carers across Walsall.

Unpaid carers play a vital role in our communities, often balancing demanding responsibilities while navigating health, social care, education, and emotional challenges. This event has been created to recognise their dedication, provide practical support, and create a welcoming space where carers feel valued, informed, and connected.

Throughout the day, attendees will be able to enjoy:

Informative talks and workshops on social care, carers’ rights, wellbeing, and local support services
Interactive sessions with professionals and experts offering guidance and advice
An information marketplace featuring organisations providing support with dementia care, mental health, assistive technology, financial advice, and community services
Dedicated support and resources for young carers and those facing unique caring challenges
Wellbeing and pampering sessions designed to help carers relax and recharge
A complimentary lunch and opportunities to connect with other carers in a supportive environment

This event is more than just a gathering - it is a celebration of the compassion, strength, and resilience of carers within our community. It is an opportunity to learn, connect, and discover what can be achieved when we work together to build truly carer-friendly communities.

We warmly encourage you to join us for this uplifting and empowering day. Your role matters, your wellbeing matters, and we are here to support you every step of the way.

Please share this email and attached flyer with unpaid carers that provide care or support or look after a friend, partner, child, or relative who needs help because of illness, disability, mental health difficulties, or addiction, and are not paid to do so. This could be helping with everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, and shopping, or providing emotional support and managing medication or appointments.
