Celebrating an event that promoted fitness and fun today! In partnership with Physiocare which is a physiotherapy practice based in Twyford, Walfinch Reading & Wokingham and Twyford Parish Council we were able to start the first of six free seated exercise classes at the Stanlake Recreation Ground Pavilion.

We had experienced instructor Yasir and the attendees were taken through their paces but he started them off slow and allowed them to do the exercises according to their capabilities.

We were so glad to hear the kind words from attendees and did hear a similar sentiment expressed a few times: "while I do know what to do and have a list of exercises I could do at home, coming out to a session like this is what I needed!".

We're glad to be able to help our community to get fit, get out the house, meet new people and have an enjoyable time while keeping active.

Thanks to our partners Physiocare and Twyford Parish Council for making this happen!

Great to meet up with my Walfinch training buddy Adams! He's making waves in the adult care scene in Northampton. He's always got a good idea and a drive to succeed! If you're in the area, look out for him and the Walfinch team at the Amazing Northampton run on Sept 13.

🐈 We had another unannounced visit at today's Thrive Club in Wargrave. While the other attendees were following coach Sam in their stretching and exercise, our newly-arrived Chief Stretching Officer showed them how it was done! This is our second feline visitor in the past few weeks. We must be doing something right! 🐈

The week in retrospect. As it's the beginning of a new month I toyed with the idea of recounting what we did in the month of July, but I gave up on that idea. Why? Because there would have been too many things to mention! Here's a quick recap of the last week in August:

* We exhibited at the Twyford Village Fete. Great to meet so many local residents having a good time in the sun. We promoted the upcoming free seated exercise classes and hosted a Care Bear naming competition 🏞️

* We met up with Care Bear-winner Emelia and presented her with newly-named Bessie Buttercup 🧸

* We attended a webinar on AI Strategy for Care Leaders put on by 🐦

* Spent some time in Twyford delivering leaflets and promoting the exercise classes 🚢🏿

* Attended a networking breakfast event at Rivermede House in Egham 🍱

* Did more preparation work for our upcoming CQC registration πŸ“‘

* Met with a vendor demoing HR and Recruitment products πŸ–₯️

* Conducted our weekly Thrive Clubs in Wargrave and Twyford 🧘

* Met with a local business owner to discuss a possible upcoming partnership πŸ‘₯

We had a very interesting networking session at Norfolk House care home last week, hosted by Rachel Laurence of Care UK and Labrow nee Fitzpatrick of Walfinch Kingston & Weybridge. We had some interesting presentations from Nicola Whate and Ashley Jordan on how they help seniors navigate the social benefit ecosystem and organise their lives. We were able to meet some new professionals and learn about some great, relevant upcoming events in the sector. Great meeting everyone!

WHY?! It's 25C, hot and also a Friday afternoon. Why am I pounding the pavements of Twyford when I could be sitting down with my feet up, sipping a cold drink? Good question! I'm delivering leaflets to the homes surrounding the Stanlake Recreation Ground in Twyford to let them know about the free seated exercise classes we're offering that are starting soon.

The first class starts this Thursday, September 3 at 11:00am and will be in the Pavilion Room (postcode RG10 0BL).

The classes are a great way to keep fit, socialise or just get out of the house, and are being conducted by an experienced physio.

We're happy to be offering them in partnership with local practice Physiocare Body Movement and Twyford Parish Council .

It would be a shame to miss the classes when they're on your doorstep, so if you know of anyone local who might benefit from seated exercise, please let them know!

Congratulations! 🧸 We ran a competition to name the Walfinch Care Bear at the recent Twyford Village Fete, and we have a winner! Bessie Buttercup was the lovely name little Emelia came up with and she came by with her mum to pick up Bessie this morning. Look at that smile! Thanks so much, Emelia!

Unscheduled inspection. Never a dull moment in our office! We had unexpected visitor today. No, it wasn't a CQC inspector, it was a curious K-9 who apparently was used to visiting the office years ago and wanted to revisit old times! Anyhow, it was nice to have a little moment of fun during the day to break up the work!

It was great to meet up with likeminded professionals with a passion for looking after older adults at the networking breakfast at Rivermede Court care home today. Thanks to Robyn Sheppard for the well-organised event and it was great to meet up with everyone!

There was an informative and interesting talk by Chris Rose on fall prevention.

Where else would we get to meet fantastic humans like Andy who runs The Patient Cancer Support Group charity? Good to meet you Andy! Support his charity if you can! https://zurl.co/tSZBG
