A phrase we hear all too often from clients when talking about tax, pensions, mortgages or investing is:

“Why don’t they teach this stuff in school?” 🤔

Well, now the Year 14s at St. Mark's High School Warrenpoint have had it taught. 🎓

We covered the basics of how money actually works — and realistically, they now know more about these topics than most adults… including how they could become millionaires simply by starting early and building good financial habits. 💡

A few simple lessons now could save a lot of hard ones down the line.

But hey — at least they know Pythagoras’ Theorem. 😏

📚 This is the kind of knowledge that belongs on the curriculum. 📚

Most job adverts talk about “dynamic environments”, “synergies”, and “growth mindsets”.

We’re not great at corporate word salad, so here’s the honest version.

We’re a small Chartered Accountancy practice in Warrenpoint. We work closely with local businesses and individuals, and our focus is fairly simple: do good work, look after our clients, and keep the office atmosphere friendly and supportive.

We’re currently looking for two people to join the team:

🔹 Accounting Technician (ATI/AAT or equivalent)
🔹 Chartered Accountant (ACA/ACCA – part qualified and above)

If you’re interested, full details are on our website — or feel free to get in touch.

January was a bit hectic, so we're a little late - but no less excited - to officially welcome Cara Devlin to the firm.

Cara joined us at the beginning of January and hit the ground running, despite being thrown in at the deep end during our busiest month of the year. She's a Chartered Accountant with over 7 years' experience in practice and a strong background across accounts, tax and advisory work.

She also brings extensive experience working with construction clients, particularly around CIS/RCT.

Welcome to the team Cara! 🎉

You shall go to the ball…

Or in this case, Warrenpoint Town Hall.

Warrenpoint Pantomime Club returns with Cinderella, continuing a tradition that’s been part of the town for 76 years. From glass slippers to big laughs, it’s everything a proper pantomime should be.

We’re proud to be one of the main sponsors this year and to support a production powered by local talent and incredible community effort.

Cinderella runs from 8–15 February 2026 at Warrenpoint Town Hall – a brilliant night out for all ages. 👠✨

To all our clients, thank you for a wonderful year and for the trust you’ve placed in us. 🙏 We wish you all a relaxing Christmas break and every success in 2026. ✨

Dividend tax went up and suddenly everyone’s shouting that directors should ditch dividends and take a full salary.

We ran the maths across a few real scenarios (ÂŁ50k profit with a single director, ÂŁ100k profit with a single director, and two directors).
Every time, the salary–dividend mix still came out cheaper overall.
Sometimes a small saving, sometimes a big one — especially if you can’t use the Employment Allowance.

But here’s the important bit:
👉 Tax efficiency isn’t the only factor.
Cash flow, mortgages, pensions, and your personal setup matter just as much.

The best tax plan isn’t trendy — it’s tailored.

So don’t copy advice from random accountants online (including me!).
Speak to someone who actually knows your numbers.

Yes — even crime is taxable.
HMRC genuinely expect drug dealers, prostitutes, and illegal gambling operators to file a tax return.
There’s actual case law on this — going back to 1927 — saying that “if it looks like a business, it should be taxed like a business.”
So yes, the taxman really does want a cut of your crimes.
