🚗 CAR OF THE WEEK at Scrap My Car Lymm – and this one has a second chance! ♻️

It’s been a busy week of collections, but this week’s arrival deserves a special mention. 😍

Just look at this beauty! A 2015 Audi S line Avant diesel estate, finished in stunning metallic grey. A smart-looking bit of German engineering that still has plenty of life left in it.

And here’s the good news… this Audi isn’t destined for the scrapyard! 🙌

We’re going to save this one and get it back on the road, giving it a second chance rather than sending it off for recycling. Because at Scrap My Car Lymm, we love rescuing a decent vehicle when we get the opportunity.

And that brings us to something worth remembering…

WE DON’T JUST BUY SCRAP CARS! 👀

People sometimes assume we’re only interested in rusty old bangers, MOT failures and cars that have given up the ghost. Not a bit of it!

🚘 Unwanted family cars
🚙 Modern vehicles and diesel estates
🏎️ Classics and interesting motors
🚐 Vans and commercial vehicles
🔧 MOT failures, non-runners and genuine scrap

In fact, we’ll consider absolutely ANY vehicle, in ANY condition.

And when we say any, we mean it! If we fancy a vehicle, there’s no upper limit on what we’ll pay. Whether it’s a little runaround or something rather more special, we’re always interested in hearing what you’ve got.

💷 Honest quotes
🚛 Reliable vehicle collection
🏦 Prompt payment by bank transfer
🤝 No doorstep haggling or changing the goalposts

So before you assume your car is only fit for the scrapyard, give us a shout. You might be pleasantly surprised by what it’s worth to us!

📍 Scrap My Car Lymm – buying vehicles across Lymm, Warrington and the surrounding areas.

📩 Send us a message today with your vehicle details and registration, and let’s see if we can do a deal.

🚗💚 CAR OF THE WEEK — JAGUAR S-TYPE 2.7 DIESEL

Now THIS is a bit of a crying shame… 😢

This week’s Car of the Week at Scrap My Car Lymm is this rather lovely Jaguar S-Type 2.7 Diesel.

Although, when it arrived, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’d accidentally collected a very large garden ornament. 😂

It had been standing for quite some time and was absolutely covered in green algae and general British weather.

But underneath all that green stuff was a genuinely stunning Jaguar. ❤️

And this wasn’t just any old diesel either…

🐆 A few interesting S-Type facts:

🔹 The S-Type was launched in 1999, with styling heavily influenced by classic Jaguars such as the Mk2.

🔹 The 2.7-litre V6 diesel arrived in 2004, and was a pretty serious bit of engineering for its day.

🔹 It produced around 206–207bhp and a hefty 435Nm of torque.

🔹 That torque figure was actually higher than Jaguar’s naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8. 😳

🔹 It could do 0–60mph in around 8 seconds and had a top speed of roughly 143mph — so despite looking like a gentleman’s cruiser, it wasn’t exactly slow!

🔹 The 2.7 V6 diesel was developed jointly by Ford and PSA, and used advanced twin-turbocharging and common-rail injection technology.

Sadly, this particular Jaguar wasn’t destined for a second chance.

Due to the wishes of the family, it had to be fully recycled and a Certificate of Destruction issued.

And honestly… that really was a crying shame.

But sometimes the job isn’t about saving every car. Sometimes it’s about helping a family deal with a vehicle that’s reached the end of the road with its owner and doing things properly, making sure it’s recycled responsibly.

So farewell, big Jag. 🐆💚

From S-Type to Scrap Type… that’s one hell of a change of career. 😂

Sorry we’ve been a bit quiet lately, folks—we’ve been flat out shifting metal! But to make it up to you, here’s an absolute blast from the past to get those classic petrolhead juices flowing. 🚗💨
Behold our latest arrival: a 1996 Vauxhall Calibra 2.0L, finished in what can only be described as Radioactive Mushy Pea Metallic, perfectly paired with a rather sumptuous (if slightly tired) cream leather interior.
Now, she’s certainly seen better days, but with lines that sleek, this 90s icon is a prime candidate for a proper restoration project!
Did you know the 2.0L 8v Calibra was officially crowned the most aerodynamically efficient production car in the world when it launched? It held a record-breaking drag coefficient of just 0.26 for an entire decade—literally slipping through the air easier than a buttered otter.
Got a motor taking up room on the driveway?
At Scrap My Car Lymm, we are always on the hunt for our next pickup. We will buy ANY vehicle, in ANY condition:
* Non-runners, MOT failures, and accident damage
* Classic project cars and garage finds
* End-of-life daily runabouts and work vans
Why sell to us?
Unlike those giant web-based companies that promise the earth online only to send someone out with a magnifying glass to chip away at your price, we always pay what we say. A deal’s a deal—no games, no nonsense, and zero tyre-kicking haggling at the roadside.

# # 🚨 HOLY GRAIL ALERT IN LYMM! 🚨
You know we love a good scrap run, but today we didn't just pick up a car... we did some genuine automotive archaeology.
Take a look at this. Right now, it looks like it’s been auditioning for a role as a decorative garden feature. It’s got more moss than a Welsh forest and enough lichen to start its own ecosystem. It looks sad. It looks abandoned.
**But beneath that shrek-green exterior lies an absolute unicorn.** 🦄
This is a genuine, bona fide, **1-owner, AUTOMATIC Nissan Micra** with—dry your eyes, you read this right—**only 13,000 miles on the clock.** 🤯 13,000! That’s not a mileage, that’s a long weekend for some people! This thing has basically spent the last two decades driving to the local shop for a pint of milk once a week, and that is *it*.
Being a bulletproof little Japanese automatic already makes it highly desirable. But adding the fact that it’s only done 13,000 miles makes it...
* rarer than a sunny bank holiday in Cheshire? ☀️
* more valuable to a modern-classic nerd than gold dust? 💰
* practically a brand-new car wrapped in a duvet of nature? 🌱
> **The Plan:** This beauty is absolutely NOT meeting the crusher. This is the "Before" picture. We are currently staging an intervention, staging a deep clean, and staging a massive rescue mission.
>
Stay tuned, because once we jet-wash the Jurassic period off this bad boy, we will update you when she’s been brought back to absolute mint condition.
What do you think it's worth once it's shiny? Let us know in the comments! 👇

🚗 WE’RE HIRING 🚗

At Scrap My Car Lymm, we believe too many vehicles that we purchase get crushed before every option has been explored or we can get round to repairing them for re-sale. While many of the cars we buy are no longer roadworthy, some are still repairable and deserve a second chance rather than being immediately scrapped, it’s quite literally, sacrilege but there’s only so many hours in the day. Recycling and reusing vehicles wherever possible is far better for the environment and helps reduce unnecessary waste ♻️

A lot of the cars we collect are simply too good to scrap, so wherever possible we try to find them a new home instead. Of course, when dealing with probate vehicles and similar situations where customers specifically want a certificate of destruction (COD) we will provide one, we always make sure we have full permission from our customers and that they’re completely happy before any vehicle is resold or reused.

That’s why we’re looking for an experienced mechanic / oily-fingered problem solver to join the team 🔧

✅ Solid hands-on experience required
✅ Must enjoy working on a wide variety of vehicles
✅ Fault finding, repairs & bringing vehicles back to life
✅ No two days are the same

If you enjoy getting stuck into motors, solving problems, and helping give vehicles a second life instead of seeing them crushed, we’d love to hear from you.

📍 Based in Lymm
📩 Message the page or get in touch for more info.

We may have been a little quiet on social media lately… but only because the team have been enjoying some well deserved holidays 😎☀️

Now we’re back at FULL THROTTLE 🚛💨And the vehicles are rolling in again day after day!

A quick reminder — at Scrap My Car Lymm we don’t just buy “scrap cars”…

We buy literally ANY vehicle:✅ Scrap cars✅ Damaged vehicles✅ Non-runners✅ MOT failures✅ High mileage cars✅ Nearly new vehicles✅ Vans & 4x4s✅ Prestige & performance cars✅ Probate vehicles✅ Unwanted fleet vehicles

Age and condition really don’t matter.

Some vehicles we purchase sadly head off to scrap yard heaven 🪦🚗Others get repaired, revived and sent back out for a brand new lease of life 🔧✨

One thing we hear all the time from customers is how fed up they are with the “online quote” game…

Unlike certain companies 👀 we don’t lure people in with a big number before delivering the final kick in the goolies when you arrive!

We regularly beat We Buy Any Car’s REAL final offer — and more importantly…💥 WE STICK TO WHAT WE QUOTE 💥

And if it’s a vehicle we really want? There’s genuinely no upper limit on what we’ll pay.

For customers dealing with probate vehicles or situations where they specifically want the car permanently destroyed, we can also provide an official DVLA Certificate of Destruction for complete peace of mind.

🚨 CAR OF THE YEAR… SO FAR! 🚨

Today’s collection wasn’t your average “end-of-life Astra”… oh no… this one’s a proper blast from the past 😍

Say hello to this 1980 Datsun 180D SSS – BARN FIND! 🐄🚗

This beauty has clearly been tucked away for years, and finding one like this in the UK is like spotting a unicorn… seriously, there are thought to be only around 8 left in total, with just a handful still on the road! 😮 ()

For those who don’t know, the SSS badge stood for “Super Sport Sedan”, meaning this wasn’t your average runabout back in the day – it was the top-spec, sporty version of the range 💪 ()

Under the bonnet, these typically packed a 1.8L engine with rear-wheel drive… simple, tough, and built in an era when cars were designed to LAST (and rust… let’s be honest 😂). Many didn’t survive thanks to corrosion, which makes barn finds like this even more special! ()

And let’s be real… this one has seen things 👀
Probably parked up “just for a few months” sometime in the 90s… and here we are in 2026 dragging it back into daylight!

💥 This is officially our most interesting collection of the year so far!

But don’t worry… while we LOVE saving quirky classics and uncovering hidden gems like this, we’re still very much your go-to for:
✔️ Modern scrap cars
✔️ Non-runners
✔️ MOT failures
✔️ Accident-damaged vehicles

So whether it’s a rare barn find or a tired daily that’s given up the ghost…

👉 Scrap My Car Lymm is ALWAYS on the lookout!

Who knows… your old motor might be the next “Car of the Year” 😆

This week’s Car of the Week is something a little special…
An old Jaguar XJ6 (XJ40) that we recently collected – and this one’s a rare manual! 👀

The Jaguar XJ40 was produced between 1986 and 1994 as the next generation of Jaguar’s famous XJ luxury saloon, built in Coventry and designed to replace the long-running Series III.

Interesting facts about the Jaguar XJ6 (XJ40)

🔧 Manual ones are very rare
Around 90% of XJ40s were automatic, meaning manual cars like this are uncommon. Some estimates suggest only around 1–2% were built with a manual gearbox.

🏁 Proper classic British luxury
The XJ40 was a full-size luxury saloon, known for its leather interiors, walnut wood trim and incredibly smooth straight-six engines.

⚙️ Advanced for its time
When it launched in 1986 it featured several modern upgrades for Jaguar, including an electronic instrument cluster and improved suspension design.

🇬🇧 Award-winning safety
In 1993 the Jaguar XJ6 was named “Safest Car in Britain” following a UK government survey.

💎 A future classic
With over 200,000 XJ40s produced, the surviving examples are becoming increasingly desirable among classic car fans.

Unfortunately this one had reached the end of the road and came to us for recycling. But it’s always interesting seeing some proper classics coming through the yard.
