🐝 BUMBLE BEE RELOCATION COMPLETED THIS MORNING 🐝

This morning I safely relocated a bumble bee nest from a residential property to a private woodland location over 3 miles away, ensuring the colony could continue to thrive without causing concern to the property owner.

Bumble bees are an important part of our ecosystem and play a vital role in pollinating flowers, crops, and wild plants. Whenever possible, relocation is always the preferred option, allowing these beneficial insects to continue their work in a suitable environment.

The nest was carefully removed and transported to its new woodland home where it can develop naturally, away from human activity.

If you've discovered a bee, wasp, or hornet nest and you're unsure what species it is, don't disturb it. Get in touch and I'll be happy to identify it and advise on the most appropriate course of action.

Rats on farms in the UK must be controlled to protect animal welfare, food supplies, buildings and public health. Rats contaminate feed with urine and droppings, spread diseases such as Leptospirosis and Salmonella, and can cause costly damage by chewing through wiring, pipes and structures. If left unmanaged, rat populations can quickly grow out of control, affecting livestock performance, reducing productivity and creating serious biosecurity risks for agricultural businesses.

🦑🦠BADGERS & BOVINE TB – A QUESTION FOR THE PUBLIC 🦑🎯

The image below shows areas of high badger populations alongside some of the highest concentrations of Bovine TB (bTB) cases across the UK.

Bovine TB continues to have a devastating impact on the farming industry, costing millions of pounds every year and causing huge emotional and financial strain on farming families. Farmers are often left dealing with movement restrictions, compulsory cattle slaughter, loss of income, and ongoing uncertainty.

Badgers are a protected species in the UK, but they are also recognised as a wildlife reservoir for bTB. This raises an important and often controversial question:

❓ Should badgers be culled to help reduce the spread of Bovine TB?

Or...

❓ Should badgers remain fully protected, with alternative methods such as vaccination and increased cattle testing being the preferred solution?

Some argue that badgers are a vital part of our countryside and should not be targeted. Others believe that farmers need more effective tools to protect their livestock and livelihoods.

What are your thoughts?

πŸ—£οΈ Are badgers a pest species when they contribute to the spread of disease?
πŸ—£οΈ Should culling continue, be expanded, or be stopped completely?
πŸ—£οΈ Should the focus be on vaccination, biosecurity, and cattle controls instead?

Please keep the discussion respectful and constructive. I'd be interested to hear views from farmers, countryside workers, conservationists, and the general public alike.

Bumble Bee Relocation 🐝
I was contacted by a customer in Great Sankey, Warrington after a family member discovered an active bumble bee nest hidden within the loft insulation whilst carrying out work in the loft space.

After assessing the situation, I carefully removed the nest and successfully relocated the colony to a private woodland location where the bees can continue to thrive safely and undisturbed. 🌿🐝

Bumble bees are an essential part of our ecosystem and are fantastic pollinators. Where possible, we always look to provide a solution that protects both our customers and our local wildlife.

If you've discovered a nest in your loft, shed, garden, or around your property and you're unsure whether it's bees, wasps, or hornets, get in touch for identification, treatment or removal.

πŸ“ž Don't disturb the nest, give the me a call.

πŸ€ FARM RODENT CONTROL πŸ€

Another successful evening spent helping a local farm keep rodent numbers under control and protecting valuable feed stores, livestock housing, machinery, and farm infrastructure.

Rodents are far more than just a nuisance on farms. Left unchecked, they can cause significant financial losses and pose serious risks to both livestock and human health.

πŸ“ Equipment Used:
β€’ AirMaksKatran .22
β€’ Nocpix BOLT L35R Thermal Scope
β€’ Nocpix Vista Thermal Monocular
β€’ Manbily.hunting Tripod
β€’ JSB EXACT Jumbo Heavy Pellets

Why is rodent control essential on UK farms?

βœ… Rats and mice contaminate feed with urine, droppings, and hair.
βœ… They can spread diseases that affect livestock, pets, and humans.
βœ… Rodents damage insulation, timber, and electrical wiring, increasing the risk of costly repairs and fire hazards.
βœ… Feed losses can quickly mount up through both consumption and contamination.
βœ… With their rapid breeding cycle, a small rodent issue can soon become a large-scale infestation.

Effective rodent management is about more than simply reducing numbers. It's about safeguarding livestock welfare, protecting feed stocks, preventing damage, and maintaining the smooth operation of your farm.

If you're seeing signs of rodent activity around feed stores, grain sheds, livestock buildings, or machinery yards, TTOCS Pest Control Ltd can provide a tailored rodent control programme to suit your requirements.
