☀️ What a blooming brilliant summer it has been - all topped off with a fantastic weekend in Spain with friends, hence my post-summer post being later than everyone else!
I can honestly say that this was the first summer where I didn’t feel the pressure of “the juggle”. My husband changed careers in early 2025 and that has made a massive difference to how I was able to approach these holidays differently – it really doesn’t go unnoticed how fortunate I am for this to be the case.
But I made the conscious effort this year to remind myself that the holidays are for us adults as much as they are for the kids - and what a difference it made.
Here are a few things that helped me enjoy my summer:
👉 Being present and in the moment – whether I was working or with the family, I tried to give it my focus. A tough one for me as my mind is always thinking what’s next or what do I need to do. Work in progress but makes such a difference when I am intentional!
👉 Keeping up the good habits –even when we were away, I kept up with my online fitness classes twice a week and 8k steps a day. I even set my alarm to get up and out whilst everyone was still asleep. Never had that dedication before!
👉 Turning off work emails – do you know, they still aren’t on my phone! And I plan to keep it that way too. I work when I am at my laptop and if out of the office then my clients know that I might not respond as quickly as usual. Total game changer helping me to be present in whatever I am doing
👉 Delegating – and this is both at work AND at home. I’ve realised that it doesn’t all need to sit on my shoulders. The hardest part is relinquishing the responsibility and the irony isn’t lost on me that this is exactly what my clients have to do 🤣)
👉 Taking time for myself and not feeling guilty for it – I have enjoyed my time with others but I have also enjoyed grabbing some time just for me. Daily walks, fresh air, reading before bed, even a little trip to Happy Place Festival.
And now we return to routine at Team Fletch HQ but my goodness it hits differently this year. Instead of feeling burnt out and overwhelmed, this time I feel energised for what's ahead!
Let’s do this 💪🏻
