💜 100 Ablepreneurs. 100 Stories.

Josie Hescott thought being exhausted, cold and in pain was simply part of working full-time while raising a family.

Until one day, her body said enough.

A diagnosis of hEDS finally gave Josie answers, but alongside supporting her husband through serious illness, continuing in the career she'd built became increasingly unsustainable.

Then came a different possibility.

With encouragement from her husband, Josie took her skills, built a business from home and began creating a working life that could flex around her health instead of fighting against it.

Three years later, she's still building.

And, in Josie's words...

"The future is exciting!"

I can't believe I've been back from holiday for a month.

I had a wonderful catch up with Mighty Menopause this week. Such a great meeting and we got so much ticked off the list along with a natter! What a wonderful view for a meeting. I was raised on Hayling and I miss the daily drive over the bridge and walks on the beach every day.

I worked with Small Dreams too this week supporting their Charity journey which has been a pleasure. Such great people - if your into Lego then check them out! (We all know we are 😂)

I've also been busy collecting stories for Ablepreneurs - the Celebration Day is coming up in September.

I have volunteered to collect stories from people in the business world who live with a chronic illness/disability or neurodivergence and I'd love to gather some more. We have them coming in thick and fast but I always want more!

We're looking for 100 disabled, chronically ill and neurodivergent entrepreneurs to be part of our National Ablepreneurs Day campaign.
You don't need to be a big business.
You don't need thousands of followers.
You don't need to have achieved extraordinary things.
You just need a story.
Here are 5 simple questions. You answer them in your own words, and we'll turn your answers into your story.
The questions:
Tell us about your business. What do you do?
What made you become an entrepreneur?
How does being disabled, chronically ill or neurodivergent affect the way you run your business?
What's one thing you've achieved that you're proud of?
What do you wish people understood about Ablepreneurs?
That's it.
You can answer by typing, sending a voice note, or even arranging a quick chat with me.

Fareham Ladies Who Latte was Friday - I haven't been able to go over the last few months, so it was lovely to see everyone, including Kenzie the dog!

We had a good catch up, and heard everyone's updates. We also had a new venue which was lovely.

3 years ago I took a leap of faith -

It might not have been easy - and not without pitfalls but I am so proud of being able to call myself a business owner who helps others.

To every client who has trusted me with their business, every friend who cheered me on, and every supporter who shared my name—THANK YOU. None of this would be possible without this community. ❤️

Here is to Year Four of building, growing, and supporting together! 🎉

Hi everyone, I realise it's been a while since I've been here, but I am hoping you will read the below, share it and get in touch if you want to take part. Thank you ❤️

I am volunteering with the Ablepreneurs which supports disabled/neurodivergent business owners with support and guidance. This is a National support network run by the wonderful Helen Louise Pugh who has Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, as I do.

National Ableprenurs Day is coming up in September and on the website we are running spotlights on business owners who despite having chronic illness or being neurodiverse, still get up and run their business.

We are collecting stories about these people and what they do, to add to the website, use in social media and local press.

We want to collect as many stories as possible and make this day about all the wonderful and empowering business people out there who silently struggle.

If you would like to take part, or know anyone who you think would, please can you get in touch, or share my details. I am accepting the stories by email, voice note, or video. Whatever is easier.
