Happy Monday Yall! Hope everyone had a great weekend.

We start the week with our final E from the A-Z Glossary of definitions in the Diversity, Equality and Wellbeing space.

The word is Environmental racism.

This is the disproportionate impact of environmental hazards on communities with predominant people of colour.

Environmental racism is expressed in various forms and can be observed on all scales. The most well-discussed is that on a global scale, whereby BIPOC ( Black, Indigenous, and people of colour) communities are disproportionately impacted by climate change, whilst they are contributing to the crisis the least in terms of emissions.

Environmental racism is caused by several factors, including intentional neglect, the alleged need for a receptacle for pollutants in urban areas, and a lack of institutional power and low land values of people of colour.

Food for thought for the 1st of a new month.

Our word today is Ethnocentrism !

Ethnocentrism is he tendency to believe that your own ethnic group is centrally important and measure all others using the standards and customs of your own.
An example of ethnocentrism is believing that the traditional clothing of a culture other than your own is 'strange' or 'incorrect', whereas cultural relativism would appreciate and accept that different cultures have their own clothing and would not make a negative judgement about someone's clothing even if it is.

L.O.V.E

The SISU team had the absolute pleasure of watching our dear friends tie the knot at the beautiful venue last weekend ๐Ÿ˜
It was truly magical, full of joy, happiness and what will now be ever lasting memories.

The words of their exchanged vowels were touching, heartfelt and personal ๐Ÿค
It got us thinking, do we talk enough about Love, and what it means to us?

So many words spring to mind, so many feelings, and so many moments fuelled by Love.

At SISU we feel so fortunate to be two best friends, able to work with one another, doing what we LOVE. Helping others to feel Love for themselves, and each other.

This is us enjoying moments of laughing, loving, silliness and good old bants.
The end photo is us with our partners, those that we fell in love with, share our highs and lows with, our continuums that show us the utmost support in all that we do.

Our very own Famous 4๏ธโƒฃ

Spread L.O.V.E everywhere you go and tell those you love, that you love them โœจ

On this week's episode of Hospitality Meets, Olajide talks about all things Equality, Equity & Inclusion, including finding 'home' in restaurants, challenging yourself, becoming the Wetherspoons poster boy, the origins of SISU, being Anti-Racist and self-reflection...

There are many more things covered in this conversation, and if you know Olajide, you know this will be exciting!

It was nice to get back to our A-Z this week.

We hope you've learnt something new this week. If you've missed all our other D words this week, check them out on our profile, because learning is fundamental when it comes to change.

So our final D this week in the Religion & Belief strand is Denomination.

A religious denomination is a subgroup within a religion that operates under a common name, tradition, and identity. The term describes various Christian denominations (for example, Eastern Orthodox, Anglicanism, and the many varieties of Protestantism).

Some Hump Day knowledge for you...

Did you know diaspora describes Jews who live outside of the state of Israel.

It was first used to describe how Jews were forced to scatter after the Babylonian exile in the 6th century B.C.

Do not capitalize unless referring to the Jewish Diaspora.
