How often do you look at your accounts and think, “Okay… but what does all this actually mean for my business?”

The numbers are important, but they’re much more useful when you understand what they’re telling you.

We help our clients look at the bigger picture; what’s working, where there may be problems, and where there might be opportunities to do things differently.

It could be as simple as changing a process or keeping a closer eye on a particular number. Sometimes it’s about making bigger plans for the future.

Either way, we’re here to help you make sense of it. Contact us here: https://rsaccountant.co.uk/contact-us/

We’re incredibly grateful when clients take the time to tell us about their experience.

One of our clients recently described our support and advice as:

“Superb support & advice.”

They also said that speaking to us “could transform your business as it did for ours.”

That’s exactly what we want to hear; not because we want to tick a box, but because we genuinely want the businesses we work with to do well.

Thank you to all of our clients who take the time to leave us feedback. We really do appreciate it.

As a business grows, there often comes a point where you need more financial input than your accountant normally provides. But hiring a full-time Finance Director might not make sense for your business.

Our Virtual FD service gives you access to that kind of financial support when you need it, without having to employ someone full-time. We can help you understand your financial performance, look at the numbers behind your decisions and plan for what comes next. And the level of support can be tailored to your business, whether you need regular input or someone to turn to when you’re working through a particular challenge.

We provide Virtual FD support across Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield, Hertford and the surrounding areas.

The obvious answer might be to try and get more sales. But sometimes the biggest opportunities are already within the business.

We start by looking at where your business is currently performing, benchmarking it and identifying areas where there may be room to improve your margins. That might mean looking at costs, processes, pricing or the way your business operates day to day. We can then help you put changes into practice and keep an eye on how things are progressing.

The aim isn’t just to increase profit today but to build a business that’s stronger and more efficient in the long term.

Payroll might not be the most exciting part of running a business, but it’s certainly one of the things you need to get right.

Employees need to be paid correctly and on time, pension requirements need to be dealt with, and the rules don’t exactly stay the same forever. Our payroll and pension service takes care of the process for you, with a dedicated point of contact and a team who understands the legislation.

So instead of spending your time worrying about payroll, you can get on with running your business.

It’s very easy to get caught up in the day-to-day.

There are customers to deal with, staff to manage, suppliers to pay and a hundred other things competing for your attention.

But every so often, it’s worth stepping back and asking: Where are we actually going? Your plans might need to take into account changes in your market, your customers, staffing, suppliers, location or even your plans for eventually stepping away from the business. And things change. A strategy that made sense two years ago might not make sense today.

We can help you look at the bigger picture, put a plan together and then review it as your business develops.

Proposed changes to Capital Gains Tax holdover relief could be relevant to some business owners considering:

• Succession planning
• Family ownership arrangements
• Transfers of shares
• Business restructures

The Government has proposed changes to the calculation of holdover relief for certain share transfers.

The measure isn't yet law, so the timing of a transaction could potentially matter.

If you're considering transferring shares or restructuring your business, don't make decisions based solely on the headlines. Get advice on your specific circumstances before proceeding.

The direction of travel is clear: tax is becoming increasingly digital.

Recent HMRC proposals and consultations point towards:

📌 Greater use of digital systems
📌 More real-time tax reporting and payment
📌 Increased use of data for compliance
📌 Greater focus on accurate digital records

For businesses, this means keeping your bookkeeping and accounting systems up to date is becoming increasingly important.

You don't necessarily need to make major changes today, but making sure your systems are ready for what's coming could save you time and stress later.

Could the way you pay your tax change in the future?

HMRC is exploring reforms that could mean some Self Assessment taxpayers pay more of their forecast tax liability throughout the year rather than relying on large payments in January and July.

For some taxpayers, spreading payments could make budgeting easier.

For others, paying tax earlier could create additional cash-flow pressure.

The proposals are still being considered, but they highlight an important point:

Tax planning isn't just about how much tax you pay; it's also about when you need to pay it.

If you're self-employed or have income alongside PAYE, it's worth keeping an eye on developments.

E-invoicing could become a much bigger part of how UK businesses invoice customers.

The Government is working towards a mandatory e-invoicing regime from 2029, with the Peppol framework set to form the core network.

And e-invoicing isn't simply emailing a PDF.

It involves invoices being created in a standard digital format and exchanged directly between accounting systems, helping reduce manual data entry, improve accuracy and potentially speed up payments.

There's no need to panic, but September could be a good time to review your current invoicing and bookkeeping systems.

Businesses already using modern cloud accounting software may find the eventual transition easier.
