It’s been a while hasn’t it!
326 days since my last post to be precise. I’ve been pretty quiet on social media as Zara Emily, but that doesn’t mean I’ve been idle — I’ve been busy working on other creative projects behind the scenes.
So… where have I been?
As some of you know, I went through a divorce, which definitely took its toll. I moved my studio into Weston Artspace 73 High Street in May 2023, but just under a year later, the council took back the lease on the building and I had to move out. A kind friend let me use there garage temporarily (thank you 🙏), but I couldn’t run workshops there. I did manage to host a few on location, and over the past year I’ve realised just how much I miss running workshops and screen printing!
The big project I’ve been working on this year is to give Weston Artspace a permanent home at the town quarry in Weston-super-Mare.
This has been huge it’s involved more meetings than I can count and a lot of admin, planning and hard work but I’m thrilled to have got it over the line (with me hanging on by a thread! If anyone’s seen me in the past 6 weeks you’ll know how crazy busy I’ve been!
This new space for me it’s for the Artspace community. But today, I’m getting my hands inky again, doing some screen printing in this beautiful place for an installation at Tyntesfield House with Super Culture.
This year I’m co-producing with the wonderful Abbie from rebels picnic and the Artspace community on three creative rooms. Last Christmas, I had the joy of collaborating with the talented Helen Wheelock, screen printing 12 metres of silk inspired by The Twelve Days of Christmas!
At the start of this year I moved out of the garage — though I didn’t have space for my exposure unit. Yesterday I visited Tracey atPrint Works Weston, to create screens for the project. It’s such a brilliant local facility highly recommend, and I’ll definitely be back to make more screens (and print for myself for a change!) in the new year.
✨ Watch this space — new and exciting things are on the horizon!
