SIGN DESIGN & CUSTOMER LIAISON

We are a well-established company based in Weston-super-Mare, specialising in the
manufacture and supply of road traffic signs, construction signage and a wide range of site signage
We are looking for an additional member of staff to join our Sign Design Department. This is not a traditional graphic design role. We are looking for someone who is confident using a computer, enjoys working with Adobe Creative Cloud and Adobe Illustrator, has a keen eye for detail and is comfortable communicating directly with customers.
The Role
You will work closely with our existing design team to prepare artwork and sign designs for customers. An important part of the role will be communicating with clients to make sure you fully understand what they require and that the finished design meets their expectations.
Your responsibilities will include:
Producing sign artwork and layouts using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Creative Cloud
Taking customer requirements and turning them into clear, accurate sign designs
Speaking with customers to clarify their requirements and ensure the design is exactly what they need
Checking artwork carefully for accuracy, spelling, dimensions and detail
Making amendments to designs following customer feedback
Preparing finished artwork for production
Working closely with the production team to ensure designs are suitable for manufacture
Managing multiple jobs and working to agreed deadlines
Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
About You
You don't necessarily need to be an experienced graphic designer. More importantly, you should be:
Confident using computers
Comfortable using Adobe Illustrator and Creative Cloud, or keen to learn
A good communicator who is confident speaking to customers
Naturally organized and methodical
Someone who takes pride in getting the details right
Able to understand a customer's requirements and translate them into a practical design
Comfortable asking questions when something isn't clear
Able to work independently while also being part of a team
Keen to learn and develop new skills
Training & Support
You will be working alongside experienced colleagues who will provide initial training and ongoing support
This is a great opportunity for someone who already has a good understanding of computers and Adobe software and wants to develop their skills within a specialist and interesting industry.
Experience within the sign industry would be an advantage, but is not essential
We are much more interested in finding someone with the right attitude, attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Important – Location
Our premises are situated in a rural location at BS24 6TA, with limited public transport options. Your own reliable transport is therefore essential.
