Under 9s
From the moment the whistle blew, Marshall was straight on the attack! Although his first attempt wasn’t successful, there was plenty of football still to be played as we joined Hartlepool for our first cup game of the season.
Marshall stepped up to take a free kick, sending the ball flying towards the top corner. What a strike, but an equally brilliant save from the opposition goalkeeper!
Alf put in a strong defensive performance, with all the lads tracking back and working together to help out at the back whenever things got tense. The teamwork and determination were there for everyone to see.
Tyler was everywhere, running up and down the pitch, switching between attacking and defending with his usual lightning-fast pace. His work rate helped keep the pressure on while ensuring the team stayed organised defensively.
Dean was making some great saves in goal, using his advantage of getting hold of the ball and holding on for dear life! A solid performance between the sticks.
Alf was unlucky with another free kick, this time sending an absolute rocket off his left foot straight onto the crossbar. Another near miss that had us all holding our breath!
James came on and immediately made use of the space, making a great run forward and coming close to finding the back of the net afew times before his first goal of the game for Whitby.
The lads came out working hard, and their determination began to pay off. Some great passing and strong runs created opportunities, with Marshall getting himself on the scoresheet!
Dean produced another fantastic save, sending the ball flying towards Alf’s arm, and suddenly the defensive wall was back in action. The lads dug deep, showing their commitment to protecting their goal when the pressure was on.
James was back on the attack once again, driving forward with Tyler behind him, ready to track back if needed, while Elliot was alert and ready to react to any rebound off the Hartlepool defence.
But this time, there was no stopping it — the ball flew straight into the bottom corner! What a finish!
Elliot put in a strong all-round performance, working hard across the pitch. He pushed forward to support the attack and tracked back to help the defence, creating a few chances of his own along the way. His energy and determination were clear.
A brilliant game enjoyed by all! Well done Whitby you are improving week on week👏
