Still taking meeting notes in a Word doc? There's a much better way, and you probably already pay for it.

It's called OneNote's Meeting Details, and it might be the most underrated tool in your Microsoft 365. Almost nobody sets it up, which is a shame because it makes meeting notes almost effortless.

Here's what it does: it links your notes directly to the calendar event, automatically pulls in the attendees and agenda, and syncs everything across your devices so your whole team can access it instantly. No more retyping who was there, no more scattered notes across three different places.

Here's how to set it up, and it takes about 30 seconds:

→ Open OneNote and go to any page

→ Click "Meeting Details" in the Home tab

→ Choose the calendar event you want

→ OneNote drops in all the details automatically; just start typing your notes underneath

This one's for small businesses and large ones alike: you're probably wasting money on Microsoft 365 licences you don't need.

It's the kind of job that sits on the to-do list for months. But with Microsoft's recent price rise, that quiet waste now costs you more than it used to, which makes it worth moving up the list.

Here's the thing most businesses miss. When someone leaves, their licence often doesn't leave with them. It sits there, active, billing you every month for a person who's long gone. Add in staff on plans far bigger than they need, and it adds up fast.

Three quick checks to stop the waste:

→ Log in at admin.microsoft.com, go to Users, then Active users. This shows everyone you're currently paying for.

→ Check the "last sign-in" date on each account. If it hasn't been used in months, it's usually a leaver you're still funding.

→ Check that the plan fits the person. Someone on a premium plan just to send emails pays for features they never use.

The price rise isn't really the problem. The waste is in licences that don't match how your business actually works, and that's fixable.

If it turns out more tangled than it should be, that's normal, and it's exactly the kind of thing we sort out for businesses every week.

Galaxy IT was on-site last week at the new Mee-Fit gym in Shrewsbury. We installed the CCTV, speakers, phone line and Wi-Fi across the site to make sure everything is ready for their opening and runs smoothly from day one.

We're proud to have taken part in the Heart of Whitchurch initiative to help encourage bees and pollinators by adding a colourful display of flowers outside our Whitchurch office.

Every small step helps support our local wildlife, and it's been wonderful to see so many businesses getting involved to make the town bloom.

A special well done to Nightingales for their absolutely wonderful floral display – it looks fantastic and is a great example of how beautiful pollinator-friendly planting can be!

We hope our flowers bring a little extra colour to the town while providing a welcoming spot for our busy bees!
