Hoarders Helper in the North East UK

Hoarders Helper in the North East UK Some of us are 'Collectors' and some of us are 'Hoarders' but when 'Collecting' or 'Hoarding' takes over we need 'Helpers' to Advise and Guide us.

For those needing help with their 'Hoarding' or 'Collections' an initial assessment will cost £95 within a 10 mile radius of Whitley Bay - any distance further will be negotiated. I cover Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Newcastle upon Tyne and County Durham. You will be given advice and guidance on how to manage your project with a written quote of costs for either yourself or myself to complete th

e task. If the task looks to be long term then quotations will be done in stages, to suit your terms. The initial session will be no longer than 2 hours.

DID YOU KNOW? 💡

'Intrinsic hoarding' describes a type of hoarding that involves items being selected or kept for their aesthetic appeal. Unique items, or objects with certain textures or colours, can have a heightened impact on a person with hoarding tendencies...

For example, the appeal could be found in the smoothness of soft leather, the shape of a vase, or the hue of paint on a piece of furniture 💼⚱️🛋

There are great hoarding support groups across the country who offer help to those impacted by hoarding, to find out more please follow the link below ⬇️

We are beginning a new project exploring possible associations between hoarding behaviours and eating behaviours. To do that we are asking adults to complete some relevant questionnaires about their hoarding behaviours, eating behaviours, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism.

When I began working in TV, my biggest fear was that someone would find out about the mess in my mum’s house. One of the scary things about being in the public eye is that all of a sudden you don’t have the privacy or anonymity you once took for granted.

The irony of spending my working life looking around glamorous overseas properties whilst hiding the shameful secret at home was not lost on me.

One day, mum asked me if I could get her on “How Clean is your House?”. I was horrified, and I realised she was desperate. We were in a very difficult situation as my younger brother was staying at my sister’s house because he wasn’t allowed to stay at mum’s until the condition of the house was drastically improved.

It was at this point, I realised that as much as she wanted to clear things out, as desperate as she was to have her youngest son back at home, she was unable to do it. I’d always resented the fact that mum didn’t take our feelings into consideration when filling up the house. But now I realised I hadn’t taken her feelings into consideration either. I always thought she chose the way she lived. But all of sudden I realised she had no choice. It was a Mental Health condition. To be continued...
