We, the Whitley Bay Chamber of Trade have launched an online petition in response to the recent parking proposals. We believe in a thriving, accessible town centre that works for residents, visitors and local businesses.

⚠️ Weever Fish Warning ⚠️

We’ve had reports of a large number of weever fish spotted along the beach recently. In the last few days the RNLI Lifeguards have helped a number of people who have been stung.

These small fish hide in the sand in shallow water and can give a very painful sting if stepped on. 🐡

👉 To avoid stings:
• Wear beach shoes or sandals when paddling.
• Shuffle your feet in the sand rather than stamping down.
• Be extra cautious in shallow, sandy areas.

If stung, soak the affected area in hot (not scalding) water to help relieve pain, ensure the spines are not stuck in the foot and seek medical advice if required.

The RNLI lifeguards are on the beaches and are happy to help you if required!

Free family event in North Tyneside on Sunday 10th and Monday 11th August!

Come along to our free event to celebrate the completion of the Seafront Sustainable Route - a new walking, wheeling and cycling route between Tynemouth to Whitley Bay🚶👨‍🦽 🚴‍♀️.
It was delivered by North Tyneside Council and funded by Active Travel England and Sustrans

🗓️ Sunday 10th August ⌚ 1pm - 3pm 📍 Longsands Beach, Tynemouth

Help to create a giant beach artwork with Soul2Sand. Beach Access North East have kindly offered use of their equipment so wheelchair users can take part too!

🗓️ Monday 11th August ⌚ 10:30am - 3:30pm 📍 Whitley Bay Links, near Spanish City

Enjoy a BMX stunt show with Mobile Bike Events (30 min shows at 11am, 1pm and 3pm), an inclusive cycle try-out session and multi-person mega bike with Everybody's Cycling (10:30 - 2:30). There'll also be free ice cream (limited number) from Lido Di Meo!
