As we come towards the end of , this feels like an important reminder for anyone people right now.

Most workplace doesn’t suddenly appear overnight. It builds gradually through unclear priorities, constant urgency, blurred boundaries and the feeling that recovery time somehow has to be “earned”.

In this blog, I share 7 practical habits that can help prevent stress before teams reach burnout point.

None of them require a huge budget or another initiative. They’re small, everyday leadership behaviours that shape how people actually experience work.

If you lead a team, manage people, or influence workplace culture, I hope there’s something useful here for you.

The best time to address workplace stress isn’t when your team is already overwhelmed – it’s before stress becomes a problem. While most advice focuses on managing existing stress, savvy leaders know that prevention is more powerful than cure.

This is a strong read on how stress travels from leaders to teams, often in small, everyday moments.

Practical ideas too: build in short pauses, map your energy for the week, and model “healthy urgency” so everything stops feeling like an emergency.

Worth a look if you want a workplace people actually enjoy working in.

The biggest performance unlock wasn’t a new tool or process, but learning to regulate my emotional state. You can stop that leak in your leadership, too.

“Do not allow setbacks to set you back.”

That line alone made this TED Talk worth watching.

In a world full of noise, complexity and performative , Stacey Abrams brings things back to three grounded questions:

- What do I want?
- Why do I want it?
- How do I get it?

A thoughtful reminder that can be as simple as continuing to move forward with clarity and purpose (sometimes easier said than done!).

Highly recommended viewing.

How you respond to setbacks is what defines your character, says Stacey Abrams, the first Black woman in the history of the United States to be nominated by a major party for governor. In an electrifying talk, she shares the lessons she learned from her campaign for governor of Georgia -- and some a...

One of the quietest forms of workplace toxicity is also one of the most normalised: benign neglect.

Not being developed.
Not being recognised.
Not being properly supported.

Over time, this chips away at , confidence and , even in organisations filled with “nice” people.

In this blog, I explore why benign neglect happens, what the research tells us, and why attention matters far more than many organisations realise.

When we think of toxic workplaces, we often imagine explosive managers, excessive micromanagement, or fear-based cultures. But one of the most overlooked forms of toxicity is also the quietest: benign neglect.

PowerPoint is a visual aid, not an audiobook.

If your audience can read every word on the screen, they’ll usually stop listening to you (human brains are efficient like that).

Strong are not about sounding polished or pretending to be someone you’re not.

They’re about making your message easier to understand, remember and trust.

A brilliant start to Beyond Boundaries, our programme running through to November.

In Module 1 this week, the focus was on developing a deeper understanding of ourselves and others through the lens of MBTI, exploring how preferences can shape communication, decision-making, relationships and in the workplace.

The conversations were thoughtful, honest, and energising, with participants reflecting on the value of curiosity, self-awareness and adapting our approach so that different people can thrive.

A strong beginning to an important journey!

Ever noticed how some people with warmth… while others somehow manage to smile and look annoyed at the same time?

My recent blog post explores the surprisingly powerful difference between a genuine smile and a smirk, and why it matters more than we might think in , and everyday relationships.

Your face often speaks before you do.
The question is, what’s it saying?

is often misunderstood as keeping things comfortable or avoiding difficult conversations. In reality, it’s about creating the conditions where people feel able to speak up, challenge ideas and share concerns without fear of negative consequences.

In the you work with, notice what happens when something awkward needs to be said. Do people lean in, or do they hold back?

grows when honesty is welcomed, even when it’s inconvenient or uncomfortable. That’s where better decisions, stronger relationships and real performance come from.
