We are incredibly proud to share the outcome of our recent CQC inspection — Essential Homecare has been officially rated GOOD overall, with OUTSTANDING in Well-Led! 💙⭐

The inspection report describes Essential Homecare as “one big family”—and that means so much to us because it perfectly reflects the culture we have worked hard to create.

Our managers lead with compassion, honesty and courage, while our care practitioners work tirelessly every day to provide safe, respectful and genuinely person-centred care. We care about the people we support, their families and one another.

The inspector was particularly impressed by our leadership and governance, commenting that she had never seen governance at this level. Receiving an Outstanding rating for Well-Led is wonderful recognition of the strong culture, systems, learning and teamwork behind everything we do.

Most importantly, this rating reflects the experiences of the people we support and their families. We are grateful to everyone who shared their views and continues to place their trust in us.

We are immensely proud of our managers, care practitioners and everyone who has supported Essential Homecare since we began. We have grown tremendously, but we have never lost sight of what matters most: caring for people properly and treating everyone as an individual.

We will celebrate this achievement, but we will not stand still. We will keep listening, learning and improving as we continue building a service that Wigan can be proud of.

A huge congratulations to our fantastic Training and Development Manager, Angela Schofield, on successfully achieving her Teaching and Learning Qualification! 👏📚

If you've ever attended one of Angela's training sessions, you'll know exactly what we're talking about...

She's loud. She's passionate. She's full of energy. She has incredibly high standards. And yes... she can be a little scary! 😄

But behind that larger-than-life personality is someone who genuinely cares about developing others and making sure every member of our team has the knowledge, confidence and skills to deliver outstanding care.

Angela delivers all of our mandatory and refresher training, including:
✅ Safeguarding
✅ Moving and Handling
✅ Basic Life Support
✅ Medication
✅ Infection Prevention and Control..and much more.

Nothing gets past Ang. Her attention to detail is second to none, and she won't settle for "that'll do." She believes every member of staff should leave training feeling confident, competent and ready to make a difference.

Her positivity is infectious, her passion is inspiring, and everyone at Essential Homecare knows that every now and then... we all need a dose of Ang! 💙

Today marks 3 years since we received our CQC registration happy birthday to Essential Homecare 🎉

What a journey it’s been. From day one, I started armed only with my uniform, ID badge, PPE, and a determination to deliver the highest standard of care… to the strong, respected service we’ve built today.

There have been highs and lows along the way, but through it all, one thing has never changed our commitment to doing the right thing for the people we care for.

This team has been built one great person at a time. Every single one of our staff have played a part in shaping who we are and what we stand for. The reputation we’ve earned together is something to be proud of and it continues to grow stronger every day.

I’m truly grateful to everyone who has been part of this journey so far. Thank you for your hard work, your compassion, and your belief in what we’re building.

Here’s to everything we’ve achieved… and everything still to come.

A Message of Hope for Wigan 2026 💙

As we step into 2026, we just wanted to share a message with the people of Wigan.
The past years haven’t always been easy, but Wigan has never been a place that gives up. It’s a town built on looking out for one another, on quiet strength, and on kindness that doesn’t ask for anything in return.
