Massive misconception.

We hear so many times that children will be fine should their Parents pass as they have named Godparents.

This couldn’t be further from the truth. Unfortunately Godparents have no place in Law. Zero, Zilch, Nada.

If you have children under the age of 18, we couldn’t stress the importance of naming guardians.

There are some things in this life worth a gamble. This isn’t one of them.

The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.

This quote is a particular favourite of ours because unfortunately we hear all too often people who haven’t got the correct documentation in place, then when these are required, it’s too late.

But who would look after your child/REN if you were to pass away?

We’re not quick to consider people as assets (and I can see why) but if you have a child (or children) they are you BIGGEST assets.

And don’t assume that your family will immediately take care of them - Social Services might get there first (especially if your family start arguing over who’s going to be the best person for the job!)

Planning ahead is really important, especially for something which is guaranteed to happen to all of us.

Wills, Trusts and Lasting Powers of Attorney are often very high on people’s priorities when looking to the future. Unfortunately, the majority of people don’t have them in place until it is too late.

These documents do not expire, but are vitally important should you have ill health or pass away.

What is a Trust?
