🌞 A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible Teams 🌞

During this recent heatwave, we want to take a moment to recognise and thank every member of our team for their continued hard work, dedication, and professionalism.

Across all areas, your commitment has ensured that we continue to deliver the highest standards of service to the families we support.

A special mention goes to our funeral conductors, who have been working in full attire despite the challenging temperatures, maintaining dignity and excellence at every service. We would also like to thank our grounds staff, who have been working tirelessly in the direct heat to keep our grounds maintained and to prepare graves with care, ensuring that every service has continued seamlessly.

We are incredibly proud of each and every one of you. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and we truly could not deliver our services without you.

We hope you all get the chance to enjoy a well-earned, restful weekend with your loved ones.

Thank you again for everything you do. 💙

🌿 Why our hedges might look a little ‘wild’ 🌿

You may have noticed that some of our hedges are looking a little less neat than usual - and there’s a very important reason for that.

During bird nesting season (typically March to August in the UK), we avoid trimming hedges and trees to help protect nesting birds and their young. Many species rely on these sheltered areas to build nests and raise their chicks safely, and trimming at this time could disturb or harm them. 🐦💚

By allowing nature to take its course, we’re helping to support local wildlife and maintain a safe, natural environment across our grounds.

Once the nesting season comes to an end in late summer (around August), our team will carefully resume hedge maintenance.

Thank you for your understanding as we help protect wildlife and respect the natural rhythms of the seasons. 🌿

💙 Celebrating a fantastic achievement from our colleagues at Hinton! 💙

Everyone at Poole & Wimborne Burial Grounds would like to send huge congratulations to colleagues at our sister site, Hinton park, Maria and Emily, who completed the Walk for Parkinson’s last weekend.

Taking on the challenge in very warm conditions, both showed incredible determination and commitment throughout the event - a brilliant effort! ☀️💪

The Walk for Parkinson’s brings communities together to raise vital funds and awareness for Parkinson’s UK, supporting those living with the condition and helping to fund essential research and services.

👏 Well done, Maria and Emily, for supporting such a worthwhile cause and making a real difference. You’ve done Hinton, and all of us, very proud!

🔥 Help Us Prevent Wildfires 🔥

During this warm, dry weather, the risk of wildfire in our grounds increases-especially as our grasslands are left to grow naturally to support local wildlife 🌿

We’re asking all visitors to please take extra care:

🚮 Dispose of all rubbish responsibly

🚬 Fully extinguish ci******es

🍾 Recycle all glass bottles and containers

Even small actions can make a big difference in protecting our grounds and the wildlife that call it home.

If you see a fire, please dial 999 immediately and report it to a member of staff.

Thank you for helping us keep our space safe for everyone 💚

☀️ Visiting Our Grounds During the Heatwave ☀️

With temperatures rising, we want everyone visiting our grounds to stay safe and comfortable during this heatwave.

🌿 Please take extra care when out in the sun:

💧 Bring plenty of water and stay hydrated

🧴 Apply sunscreen regularly

🧢 Wear a hat or light clothing where possible

🌳 Make use of shaded areas to rest

⏰ Try to visit during the cooler parts of the day

Our grounds remain open as a peaceful space for reflection, but your wellbeing is our priority. If you begin to feel unwell, please seek shade immediately and ask for assistance if needed.

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe 💚

🐞🌼 Insect Week is here! 🌼🐞

https://www.insectweek.org/

We’re taking a moment to celebrate some of the incredible insects that call our site home 🧡

From the impressive stag beetle spotted up close (look at those jaws!), to the familiar cockchafer beetle in the grass, and the delicate pollinator visiting our wildflowers - these small creatures play a big role in keeping our environment healthy 🌍✨

Insects help to pollinate plants, recycle nutrients, and support the wider ecosystem - and our green spaces provide vital habitats for them to thrive 🌱

This Insect Week, we’re proud to support biodiversity on site and encourage everyone to take a closer look at the tiny wildlife all around them 👀

💡 Why not see what you can spot in your own green space?
