So it's nice when the highlight of the day is simply a cup of tea.

No performance required.
No audience participation.
No pressure.

Just hot water, a teabag, and a few minutes of peace.

Although if this teapot starts asking for suggestions, all bets are off. ☕

The best event entertainment has something in common with a toilet roll:

You don't fully appreciate it until you realise what happens when it's not there.

Nobody puts it on the guest list.
Nobody talks about it in the speeches.
Nobody takes photos of it.

Yet it quietly helps everything run smoothly.

Great entertainment does the same.

Guests relax. Conversations flow. The atmosphere lifts. Hosts stop worrying and start enjoying their own event.

This Sunday, 14th June at 7.30pm, I'll be joining the brilliant S.I.T. (Stables Improv Team) at the Stables Theatre in Hastings for an evening of completely made-up comedy.

No scripts. No planning. No idea what's going to happen next.

We create scenes, stories and silliness on the spot using your suggestions, so you're part of the show too. (Yes, shouting random ideas at us is actively encouraged!)

With free parking, a licensed bar, and tickets at just £5, it's probably the most affordable way to watch grown adults make fools of themselves.

Ever had one of those days where everything seems determined to run a little differently than planned?

On Monday I headed up to London for some family commitments, followed by a visit to the dental hygienist for a clean and polish. Nice and straightforward... or so I thought.

Part way through the journey, an announcement came over the train: there was a fire on the track ahead. We sat waiting for around 50 minutes before things were sorted and we could slowly make our way into London Bridge.

Plenty of people jumped off onto the platform of the station we stop at to find alternative routes. I considered it, but with patchy phone reception and limited information, I decided the best option was to stay put. Instead, I used the time to make notes, keep track of what was happening and take a photo of my ticket. Later, that meant I had everything I needed to submit a Delay Repay claim.

So what has this got to do with entertaining?

Quite a lot, actually.

When you're performing at events, things don't always go to plan. Weather changes. Timings shift. Access routes disappear. Equipment decides to develop a personality of its own and not work. The key is being prepared, using the resources you've got available, adapting to the situation and keeping things moving.

And if all else fails, at least make sure your teeth are looking their best for your audience!

You don't have to be a football fan to appreciate a happy customer!

Harvey is a devoted supporter of Tottenham Hotspur, and recently asked if I could make the club's logo out of balloons. As someone whose football knowledge mostly begins and ends with "they kick a ball around for a bit", I wasn't entirely sure how it would turn out.

Today I handed over the finished balloon sculpture.

Harvey was absolutely delighted with the result... and if I'm honest, so was I.

One of the things I love about balloon art is turning unusual requests into something real. Whether it's football logos, corporate logos, favourite characters, or something completely bonkers, there's always a fun challenge waiting.

🌼 Who says you need a package to have something special? 🌼

A lovely customer got in touch looking for a bouquet of yellow flowers for a very special 5th birthday. They decided not to go ahead with one of my entertainment packages, but they still wanted something unique to help mark the occasion.

With Summer events in full swing, more organisers are looking for entertainment that keeps children engaged, active, laughing, and making memories outdoors — without everyone melting into deckchairs by lunchtime.

That’s where I come in.

I provide interactive family entertainment packed with balloon shows, magic, circus skills, audience participation, and colourful balloon creations that help create a fun, relaxed atmosphere for all ages. Whether it’s a festival, pub garden event, school fair, Summer fun day, or family venue, the goal is always the same: get people smiling and involved.

A lot of events are now creating shaded activity areas too, which work perfectly for my style of entertainment. Plus, balloons cope with the heat slightly better than performers do… although I’m still less likely to pop unexpectedly.

I spent some time exploring the brilliant Battle Medieval Festival and it was hot. The kind of heat where even the knights probably considered swapping chainmail for shorts.

There were loads of fantastic stalls selling medieval treasures, crafts, and all sorts of wonderfully unusual bits and pieces. I also spotted plenty of games and activities raising money for good causes, which gave the whole event such a lovely atmosphere. Best of all, I managed to see not one… not two… but THREE jesters wandering about having fun.

At one point I escaped into the Battle Abbey shop purely for the shade… which may have been the smartest decision of the day.

If you love history, costumes, silliness, and a good wander around unique stalls, it’s definitely worth a visit.
