🎉 We're growing!

Welcome to Nicholas Adams, our new Maintenance and Support Engineer.

First week, smashed his health and safety certifications and joined Ashton Partridge and Jonathan Harding for site visits to Westminster Abbey.

Nick brings hands-on AV networking and live event experience from broadcast hire and large-scale production, holds a BA (Hons) in Film Production, and is certified in Audinate Dante Level 2 and Cisco CCNA.

We're proud to have another sharp, multi-skilled engineer who thrives under pressure and builds great relationships with clients and colleagues.

Welcome aboard, Nick! 👋

A lovely email landed from Bad Tölz this week. 🎶

An organist in Bavaria found original Rheinberger scores in a Wi******er charity shop, very likely sold from our High Street music shop decades ago. He still plays them, though he admits he's "only slightly younger than the music" (born 1944).

It's a reminder of where it all began. In 1909, Jabez Whitwam, a Huddersfield-trained organist and Wi******er Cathedral bass chorister, opened a shop on Wi******er High Street selling pianos, sheet music and Edwardian gramophones.

From gramophones to today's sound and vision systems, we've been specialists in audio and video for over a century. We've swapped strings for signal cables, but music and cathedral life still shape how we care for the historic buildings we support.

07/08/2026

No two days are the same for our engineers. One week it's a multi-room broadcast build, the next it's routing cable through a Grade I listed ceiling whilst preserving the fabric of the building.

Prince Philip House is a Grade I listed multi-functional venue and meeting space in Central London. Our brief was to give Royal Academy of Engineering, a unified, user-friendly AV system that could keep pace with the current and future demands of their hybrid meeting rooms and event hire spaces.

This is exactly the kind of challenge we specialise in: integrating modern technology into heritage buildings without compromising the spaces themselves. The result is a custom AV integration with full live event broadcast capability and every system installed discreetly, mounted behind walls and monitors to preserve the building's character.

Control is kept simple via familiar Crestron Electronics touch panels, while LED RGBW perimeter lighting and CLS LED Jade track lighting add atmosphere for everything from formal meetings to special events.

The AV has done more than solve a technical brief, it's opened up new, more creative ways for the team to use the spaces.

AV you can’t see 👀

In houses of worship and heritage environments, we spend a lot of time and care concealing loudspeakers, microphones and cameras.

From compact speakers in choir stalls, audio systems which are colour matched to the stonework pillars, to customised brackets for cameras behind screens, the aim is always the same: Preserve the look and feel of the building while ensuring performance and functionality.

Maintenance in progress at world’s longest medieval cathedral!

At historic landmarks like Wi******er Cathedral, our engineers are often working behind the scenes in hidden spaces, checking connections, updating systems, testing signal paths, and ensuring everything continues to perform as expected.

Good maintenance is not just about fixing problems when they happen.
It is about spotting issues early, extending the life of the equipment and making sure the experience remains reliable for everyone using the space.

This matters even more for heritage sites and houses of worship, where downtime can disrupt services, events, and visitor experiences.

Another week, plenty of sites to look after.

While most people are behind their desks, our engineers are up ladders, on Snorkel scissor lifts, in tight spaces, testing and deep cleaning to optimise AV equipment.

This is the behind-the-scenes work that rarely gets seen, but it's what keeps our clients' AV systems running exactly as they should.

Proactive maintenance isn't just about cleaning. It's about looking after the investment our clients have made and making sure it continues to deliver.

✅ Catching potential issues before they become problems
✅ Extending the life of installed equipment
✅ Checking settings and signal paths so the sound is as good as the kit looks
✅ Leaving systems in a condition our clients are proud of

We don't just rip and replace, we work with what's already installed, integrating smarter and getting the most out of every system we touch.

Keeping History Running Smoothly

The maintenance team completed an annual proactive maintenance visit to Wi******er's historic Guildhall Wi******er ensuring it is ready for their busy season of events ahead.

What We Did
✅ Comprehensive cleaning and testing of all equipment across 4 rooms
✅ System health checks and performance monitoring
✅ Preventive maintenance to ensure reliability
✅ Detailed maintenance logs for compliance reporting

Why Proactive Maintenance Matters

For prestigious venues like the Guildhall Wi******er, hosting weddings, medical conferences, fundraisers, and corporate events, system reliability isn't just important, it's essential.

Minimal downtime: System failures could compromise hired spaces, impact the venue's reputation, and result in lost revenue.

Staff efficiency = guest satisfaction: Reliable AV systems allow venue staff to focus on delivering exceptional experiences, not troubleshooting technical issues.

With the festive season around the corner, by taking a proactive approach with regular maintenance visits, we help ensure that venues can continue to create memorable experiences.
