The Wi******er BID Ranger service is now operating seven days a week, providing an even stronger visible presence to support businesses, visitors and residents across the city.

Working alongside Wi******er Police and partners through the Wi******er Business Crime Reduction Partnership, the expanded team will help tackle crime and antisocial behaviour, share intelligence, and enhance safety through initiatives such as Shopwatch, Pubwatch, DISC and the Radio Link Scheme.

We are pleased to welcome Oscar to the team, alongside Charlie, with Brett who is stepping into the role of Team Leader.

Together, we are helping to keep Wi******er a safe, welcoming and vibrant place to live, work and visit.

Jane Bastock, Business Crime Reduction Manager at Wi******er BID, said: "The strength of the Wi******er Business Crime Reduction Partnership lies in the close collaboration between businesses, Hampshire Police, Wi******er City Council and our partner agencies. By sharing information and intelligence, we can take a proactive approach to preventing crime and keeping Wi******er city centre safe. The expansion of the Ranger service to seven days a week further strengthens that commitment, and I would like to thank all our members and partners for their continued support. Businesses can contact the Rangers quickly and easily via the Radio Link network, email or mobile phone, ensuring help is always close at hand when needed."

Chief Inspector Matt Kirby, District Commander for Wi******er at Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary, said: “We welcome Wi******er BID’s investment in extending Ranger patrols to seven days a week. This increased presence enhances visibility and reassurance in the city centre, and strengthens our ability to work together to prevent crime and respond to issues quickly. As Wi******er’s District Commander, I am proud of our continued partnership, which plays a vital role in keeping Wi******er safe and welcoming for all.”

Wi******er BID is proud to be organising a major deep clean of Wi******er’s historic High Street, helping to restore the beauty of one of the city’s most iconic locations. Started this morning, the process will take approximately three weeks to restore the High Street to its former glory.

Using specialist, chemical-free cleaning technology, years of built-up grime and chewing gum are being carefully removed to reveal cleaner, brighter streets for residents, businesses and visitors to enjoy. After the deep clean, the cobbles will be sanded and sealed for improved maintenance.

This is part of our ongoing commitment to enhancing the city centre and ensuring Wi******er remains a welcoming, vibrant and attractive destination for all.

Keep an eye out for the transformation as our historic High Street gets the care it deserves.

Stage two consultation on new parish councils open until 24 June 👇

📣 Have your say on proposed new parish councils for Kings Barton and the Wi******er town area.

Last year, we launched a Community Governance Review and our stage one consultation asked residents if they supported the creation of a parish council for the Wi******er town area and, if so, which area it should cover. Some neighbouring areas, already in an existing parish council area, were also asked whether the current arrangements were still effective and reflective of their local communities.

We received over 1400 responses, and the outcome of this consultation means we’re proposing the creation of two new parish councils.

We’ve now begun our stage two consultation, which closes on Wednesday 24 June 2026.

This morning our Wi******er BID Executive Director, Paul Spencer was visiting local businesses with Danny Chambers MP and representatives from Wi******er City Council including Cabinet Member for Business and Culture, Cllr Lucille Thompson. Here we are pictured with Steve at the award-winning P & G Wells Ltd in College Street.

We organise regular business visits providing opportunities for businesses to engage with the local MP, BID and City Council all at the same time at their place of work and to share their experiences of running a business in Wi******er.

If you would like us to visit your business next time, please get in contact and we can make arrangements.
