Nothing to do, nowhere to go, oh
I wanna be sedated

Just, get me to the airport, put me on a plane
Hurry, hurry, hurry, before I go insane

Who's ready to say goodbye to 2020???

Wassup, Windsor Castle!

If this is what the British call a weekend home, let me know how to get my citizenship. Windsor Castle is the summer or weekend home of the Queen, it is said to be the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world. From the paintings to the furniture to the display of armor, every room and turn was unbelievable. I stood in front of Queen Mary’s Doll’s House for what seemed like hours taking in every detail, including running water and electricity. A dollhouse fit for a Queen that included over 500 miniature books and a complete set of miniature crown jewels. I am pretty sure you could roam the hallways nightly and still get lost.

I feel like Sunsets get way more clout than Sunrises! But I do love a good Sunrise, just got to be up early enough to catch it. What a way to start the day, seeing what colors are reflected in the sky. Sunrises can remind us that a new day is upon us and each day is a new start! When is the last time you caught the sunrise and what parts of the world have you been fortunate enough to view one in?

Wassup, Water.

in December of 2016 I was able to visit Hawaii for the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor. I visit the Pearl Harbor Memorial and was able to witness the leaking of "The Black Tears of the USS Arizona." Not all of the oil burned up when the Arizona was destroyed, and approximately nine quarts of oil are emitted daily. A constant reminder of the great sacrifice that was given this day.

Wassup Pompeii!

Unbelievably after 2,000 years archeologists are still finding remains in the city of Pompeii. Recently they discovered the skeletal remains of 2 men that looked as if they were trying to escape the volcanic ash of the erupted Mount Vesuvius. Visiting places like this is why I travel; the excitement and educational experiences are not something that can be learned through reading or movies. To see something this profound is life-changing no matter your age.

The view from the London eye is incredible! This nighttime visit was a last-minute decision, but I am so glad we made it. To see the city from above was amazing and it capped off this visit to London. Do you have any last-minute decisions that made your trip? ⠀

The view looking down from an airplane is never the same. What you are flying over and what the weather conditions make it an ever-changing site. What do you see in this picture of the clouds? I see what looks like a whirlpool of fluffy cotton. ⠀

Wassup, Ice Box Canyon!

When you think of a trip to Vegas, hiking is not the first thing that comes to mind. But I have found over the years and over many visits that the hiking and the views are beautiful. This particular hike was through Ice Box Canyon, and I think we learned why it was named that. The February weather was beautiful but once we were inside the canyon it got colder and colder. Out of breath and freezing, I decided to take a rest for a minute and enjoy the stunning view.

Wassup, Snoqualmie Falls!

It’s hidden in plain sight and just beyond the interstate. Nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range in Washington State, just outside of the metropolis of Seattle, Snoqualmie Falls is a spectacular vision enhancing the beauty of the Salish Lodge. Though a hike is not required to see the falls in its spectacular glory, it is possible to traverse a short but steep path down to the river’s edge below. The best time to visit this amazing spot is in April or May when the mountain snow is thawing creating a thunderous waterfall!

Wassup Shells!

Shelly sells seashells by the seashore! Say that 10x fast! I love a good seashell hunt, different colors, and sizes, the thought of what type of animal it came from. To think that some of the shells have been around for decades and have traveled from beach to beach is amazing.

Wassup, St. Paul’s Cathedral!

A visit to London would not be complete with stepping inside St. Paul’s Cathedral. I know it from the beautiful wedding of Prince Charles and Princess Diana in which I watched on TV as a child. There have been many famous weddings, funerals, and celebrations that have occurred inside these walls, and to walk around amongst the alters, aisles and seeing the tombs was a delight. I have seen many beautiful churches, but this was one of my favorites.

Wassup Buckingham Palace!

Visiting London in March 2020 as COVID began was a little surreal. For a trip that had been planned for over a year, I was so happy that I was able to go. Walking up to Buckingham Palace, a place I had only seen on TV was amazing, but to see it with minimal people standing around was actually kind of eerie. I love that I was able to get great pictures without the interruptions of a crowd, but it is the crowds that make the experience sometimes. Mingling with people from all over the world and of all ages is what makes traveling so exciting to me.
