Every day is a school day… even when dealing with uv direct-to-substrate printers! 😂👟

With one of our directors identical twin-boys heading back to school, we decided to put the artisJet UV printer to another slightly unusual test — printing their names directly onto the straps of their new black school shoes.

Being identical twins, they’re regularly mixed up by friends, other parents and even teachers… so surely there can be no excuses now! 😂

Although knowing these two, we wouldn’t put it past them to swap a shoe each just to cause even more confusion! 👟↔️👟

There was also a little lesson for Dad along the way…

One of Mason’s shoes somehow ended up being printed upside down! 🤦‍♂️

But as the saying goes, every day is a school day, and sometimes learning from your mistakes gives you the biggest learning curve.

After a bit of experimentation and some artisJet magic, we managed to rectify it — and looking at the finished pair, you’d never know.

It’s a bit of fun, but it also demonstrates the huge possibilities of direct-to-object UV printing. Crisp white ink printed directly onto a finished black shoe strap — no transfer, no label and a completely personalised result.

That’s exactly why we keep experimenting at Elmstok. If it fits on the printer, we’re probably going to try printing on it!

🍻 From plain wood to personalised pubware — in minutes.

A simple wooden shot paddle, transformed using the artisJet Trust UV printer.

For this sample we took an off-the-shelf wooden 6-shot serving paddle and printed directly onto the finished surface, adding:

SPORTSMAN – PUB SINCE 1819
SERVING UP GOOD TIMES!
plus individual numbers for each shot.

No vinyl. No transfer. No engraving.
The artwork is printed directly onto the wood using UV ink.

Once printed, we finished the paddle with a brushed clear satin varnish to give the wood and print some additional protection — and it was ready to head straight to the bar.

It’s a great example of how the artisJet can take an everyday object and turn it into something branded, personalised and completely unique in just minutes.

🖨️ Direct-to-metal UV printing with artisJet

Monday morning print testing on something a little different — steel guillotine knife blades (previously used mind you - so please ignore the cosmetic markings 😉).

We’ve been experimenting with different “gold” colour values, comparing CMYK printed directly onto the metal against White + CMYK, where a white underlay is printed first before adding the colour.

It’s a great example of the versatility of the artisJet Trust UV printer.

artisJet can print directly onto most metal surfaces, opening up opportunities to add:

✔️ Company branding & logos.
✔️ Product identification and labelling.
✔️ Full-colour graphics.
✔️ Serial/product information.
✔️ Bespoke customisation.
✔️ White ink and colour layering, as well as spot varnish.

And importantly, it can be printed directly onto the substrate, removing the need for conventional adhesive labels in many applications.

These old guillotine blades certainly weren’t pretty — but they’re ideal for demonstrating what can be achieved!

After more than 40 years, we thought it was probably time for a bit of a refresh to our premises! 😎

The external cladding and roof on our large warehouse has now been completely refreshed, primed and painted in a smart new anthracite grey — and we have to say, the result is a bit of a transformation!

It’s taken a fair bit of investment, but the building now looks (almost) brand new again. 🏢✨

Of course, as proud resellers of the fantastic artisJet UV printers, we know all about printing onto a huge range of substrates and materials.

Wood? ✔️
Metal? ✔️
Glass? ✔️
Acrylic? ✔️
Ceramics? ✔️
And plenty more… ✔️

But sadly, even with all that capability, we couldn’t quite stretch an ArtisJet to printing directly onto the entire warehouse! 😂

So, for the warehouse, we went with the traditional approach… primer, paint, brushes, and rollers.

For everything else, there’s ArtisJet. 😉

At Elmstok, we’re always looking at ways to improve, invest and enhance what we do — not only for our customers, but for our business as a whole.

Following on from our recently refreshed UV printer showroom, this latest warehouse transformation is another step forward, with even more enhancements and developments coming soon… 👀
