We are an independent body representing businesses in the Witham and its surrounding area. Our key objective is to help create a thriving business environment for both new and existing businesses in the town. We aim to promote the town as a desirable location for business development opportunities and economic prosperity by providing regular open forums for the discussion of local business issues.

We arrange regular business networking meetings with other like-minded business owners and work closely with other Chambers of Commerce groups and business organisations to promote trade and exchange information. We ensure that local businesses have a voice and that our business interests are represented within Witham and the District Council Committees.

It is with extreme sadness that we’ve heard that Newlands Butchers has closed its doors

This is a massive blow for independent retailers in the town and we know that they will be sorely missed by many people

We do not know the circumstances but we wish the team the very best in whatever comes next

Good luck to you all

We heard today about the passing of Daren Harker

Daren was a valued member of the Chamber for many years, he helped many businesses with websites and technology and was a larger than life character that we know will be remembered fondly by many people in Witham and beyond

We send our deepest condolences to Daren’s family at this difficult time

Rest in peace Daren 🕊️

Many congratulations to the Councillors elected yesterday as part of the 2023 District and Local Elections, now the hard work begins!

03/05/2023

Local elections are taking place tomorrow (4 May). If you’re planning to visit a polling station to vote, don’t forget to bring photo ID with you. 🗳

If your photo ID is lost, stolen or damaged, or you are away for work or have a medical emergency and cannot vote in person, you can apply for an emergency proxy (someone voting at a polling station on your behalf) up to 5pm on polling day (Thursday 4 May). All you need to do is download and fill in the application form on our website: www.braintree.gov.uk/elections and send back to our Elections team by emailing [email protected] or drop off in person at our offices at Causeway House, Braintree.

We are aware that some residents, who have applied for a postal vote, have reported they have not received their postal voting packs via Royal Mail. The Council have worked with the Royal Mail Elections Team over the past few weeks and have received assurances from Royal Mail that they would be able to deliver all packs within the required timescales.

As at today’s date we have received 65% of postal votes that were issued, which is in line with the average we normally receive for local elections at this point in time. We have continued to support postal voters, and we have issued replacement packs to anyone that has contacted us directly and hasn’t received their postal vote pack.

These postal delays are unfortunately beyond our control, however if you applied for a postal vote and have not yet received your pack, you can still vote through one of the following ways:

⚪️ Please contact our elections team by emailing [email protected] or calling 01376 552525 and we’ll be able to provide you with a replacement postal pack. You can also come to our offices at Causeway House, Braintree to collect it in person up until 5pm tomorrow(Thursday 4 May).

⚪️ If you have not yet sent back your completed postal vote, this can be handed in at any polling station within the district before polls close on Thursday 4 May at 10pm or at our offices at Causeway House, Bocking End, Braintree. You can find your nearest polling station via our website here: https://www.braintree.gov.uk/voting-elections/find-polling-station

We understand the postal voting pack delays is a national issue elsewhere across the country and we will be reporting this to the Electoral Commission as part of the review for this year’s elections.
